This past year we have DIE training at work. I have so frequently had to bite my tongue during online discussions that I just watch the recorded sessions now. Even that's not good for my blood pressure.

I'm not concerned about our department. It's the crusaders from outside the department that worry me. They are the very definition of fanatics - they won't change their minds and won't change the subject. Such have driven Jordan Peterson out of academia:

Another statue down, well being moved. At least it's not being destroyed or mothballed.
I’m not a big fan of his. But, he is an important historical figure. Prominent people who understand that should push back and call out the nonsense. They’re just trying to erase history which supports the ethos they want to replace. It’s programatic. It’s what they do. But those prominent people are too afraid they’ll have their prominence canceled.

Except it was NYC. You'll probably be hard pressed to find many that disagree.

Why do we hate Teddy Roosevelt?
He's just another old white racist dude. Probably these epic quotes probably don't help:

"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American."

"There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

"There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities."
