Fun debate guys...I’m just trying to shed light on what always seems to be a one sided story.

Always try to look for both sides in a conflict and you’ll better understand why.

Don’t forget to look at how cultural norms drive the belligerents as well.

As they say on Shark Tank...I’m out. Gonna go look at Gun Porn now.

Yes, Jews have lived there since the beginning of Judea. After Rome did what Rome does to rebellions, the Jewish population was next to nothing...like 1-2% for a long time...referenced below. They scattered for 1800 years, were persecuted for being different everywhere they went and within one lifetime, poured back into Palestine and took over. Just because a few percent of native Americans live in Indiana, is it cool for all the native Americans to move to Indiana, buy up some land and take the rest by force?

You sound like a Omar and the Hamas loving democrats. Palestinians have always said they want the total destruction of Israel and every Jew. Why would anyone take sides with a people that totally back terrorists and voted them into leadership over them? They willingly give themselves and their children up as human shields. They have one agenda and that is to wipe out Israel and all jews. I'll never back them or Iran.

It’s a one sided story because the US has had a Judaeo-Christian zionist perspective of Israel. A broader view is unlikely unless one views the facts apart from religious perspectives.

This is another drawback to holding a religiously tribal perspective. Hearing facts not favorable to Israel make you, we’ll say uncomfortable. It makes you think he’s taking their side because he’s willing to say something that’s not completely pro Israel.

Uuhhhhgg...I never said I supported the Palestinians or terrorists...I’m just saying I understand why. There are more constructive routes the Palestinians could take. What they’re currently doing (IMO) is wrong and I do not support it.

I would not have contributed to the conversation if I had known people were going to put words in my mouth.

Look at my username, that’s what I do. I’ve spent more time away from my family, friends and home than I care to remember in the Middle East defusing IEDs and getting rid of ordnance. I’ve been to the armpits and asscracks of the world, been shot at and blown up, rockets shot at me. I wanted every MF’r dead who lifted a finger against me or my guys. That’s where I stand on terrorists. Maybe the reason I’m still alive is because I take time, put myself in their shoes and try to understand “why”.

I don`t care to understand why terrorists do what they do. Firing rockets into Israel unprovoked, doing their best to kill civilians, they pretty much deserve whatever they get. THAT I DO understand.

I guess I told you I’m not a fan of hip hop without saying it then.

But now that I didn’t say it. I’m saying it. I like jazz, fusion, blues, classic rock, R&B, classical, latin, maybe folk when done well. Two genres of music I don’t like are twangy ass Country, and of course Hip Hop.
Twangy country? Are you talking like Williams Sr/Patsy Cline, or people like Clint Black, Randy Travis? I’ll give you the former, but the latter is awesome. And modern country is pretty damn good. Seriously. It’s more like early rock than country.

No one will understand another's argument unless they're all speaking the same language.
If one's argument is religious, no amount of politically- or historically-based discussion will change their belief

Are you asking me to go through years of articles on a huge Google search? Why can't you look it up yourself? It's right there in fact it's been posted in different forums on this very site. What exactly have you missed in the last 50+ years?

Mark me down as one of them crazy Judeo-Christian idealist. Our country was founded on those principles.
And those who say they understand, but couldn`t possibly, because they don`t know the Bible, and therefore, the actual history of the hatred of mooslims for Gods` chosen people.

When country sounds bluesy, I like it. When it sounds jazzy I like it. When it sounds rocky, I like it. I can’t stand twangy, tear in beer ****. And for that reason I don’t know many of the artists.

Our country was founded on Jews being God’s chosen people and that we should blindly condone everything and anything they chose to do?

It’s true that Christianity greatly impacted the principles upon which this nation was founded. I don’t think individualism would have evolved socially without the principles of free will at its foundation. Notwithstanding Calvinism, the idea of free will helped pave the way to its logical conclusion, which is individualism. For that I’m thankful for the development of Christianity as it matured. In that sense there is a secular value to Christianity that many atheists overlook. And that’s the important contribution of Judaeo-Christian principles.

Zionism is not a component in the cause of liberty. It’s just a common religiously derived belief between many Christians and Jews. As an agnostic I see zero value in maintaining it as it fogs reality.

You do this huge google search and you’ll likely find views on both sides of the issue. So maybe as you do, you might also read the ones that are counter to your viewpoint and perhaps your perspective might be widened.

Claiming you know, after having rejected the very idea of understanding the other side, tends to sour the idea of what you actually know, to others. Knowing means not just what you want to be the truth.

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
When you're perfect in every way
I can't wait to look in the mirror
Cause I get better looking each day
I sing that to myself everyday.

My wife laughs along in the background so that I feel like I am singing the live version.
