WOW didn't take Obama long to spin this into anti-gun (assault weapon) message. The gun made them do it.

Of course it turns into a gun debate every time. Obama can't help himself but to politicize it. But we need to quit saying they're saying something they're not saying. Anymore. They're saying it shouldn't be this easy for people to get guns. That matters because the argument against it is much different from the argument against a delusional belief that guns make people want to kill people.

But who is an Imam to declare war? He has no army or resources to complete such a task. Im not aruging with you because I wish this could happen...but an average Muslim civilian cant stop these crazy people.

Who is an Imam to declare war on the West?

So how many here aren't fans of due process?

I've heard on INGO that it's overrated.

Now that Obama has declared this was an act by a lone-wolf with no link to inter. terrorism, I guess they can throw all the blame on gun owners and their evil black rifles as the problem.

Then you don't know what you don't know. Even running a Simumition drill in a night club is incredibly confusing. The loud music masks gun fire and direction, lighting effects, maybe smoke machine, etc. In real events people maintain denial, mill around, bunch up, etc. Realising there is a shooter, finding him, and mounting a credible counter offense in that environment is incredibly challenging even for trained folks, let alone panicked untrained, possibly drinking, folks taken unaware.

When I first heard about these murders, I had trouble understanding how one person could kill 50 and wound 50+ more. Upon discussion with some others last night, I was educated that I had no realistic concept of what happens in a night club, the environment, or the likely behaviors of the patrons. It makes more sense to me now, but I think the initial skepticism was warranted.

It also reinforces my aversion to crowds, especially in confined places. Any kind of trouble (like a fire) could produce similarly disastrous results.

Not been in a nightclub? What about when we went dancing in Indianapolis a few years ago? You wore that backless number?

...and don't forget all the designated drivers. A lot of less than savy folks might be surprised how many non-alcoholic drinks are served in bars.

What's the penalty for carrying in a Florida bar?

That is a good point and I have been thinking about it tonight. I figure it this way.

1: Everyone at a club is not drunk.
2: Carrying a gun requires you to be more responsible. It has required me to make better decisions than I made before I carried.

and the convenient ones. Don't forget those.

    lemme guess, you don't speed.
