Apologies in advance for the source.

"The FDA’s policy dates back to 1985, near the start of the AIDS epidemic, and it originally banned all gay and bisexual men from donating blood. The agency loosened its policy last year but with little practical effect: it now applies to any man who has had sex with another man in the past year."

I would settle for a significant # of dedicated Islamists that will actually do something to thwart these murderers and maniacal dogs.
I haven't seen anything to show that the typical Islamist wants these things to stop at all.

The Orlando area imam that spoke this morning was pretty damn on point. Best I have seen in awhile. Head of the Central Florida Islamic something , something....

Serious question....what do you suggest he do?

How about declare war and eliminate these murderers. IF the religion as a whole is against these radicals then they will get the intel to go after them.
It's up to the world to go after IS all the way.
This Islam chat is reminding me of "He was a good boy" crap.
    Talk is cheap

But who is an Imam to declare war? He has no army or resources to complete such a task. Im not aruging with you because I wish this could happen...but an average Muslim civilian cant stop these crazy people.

Gather the intel on those responsible for these such attacks and inform someone that can do something about it.
Work with the US maybe? The US has the will and resources to go after these people.
Work TOGETHER and don't put the name of the religion first this time. It will take the world to rid itself of these gutter rats.

I'd love to see legions of Muslims treating the extremists like most versions of Christians would treat the Westboro Baptists jackasses or a Jeffs style LDS sect.......Shouted down and marginalized.
And yes there may have to be some self defense used in other countries if this is tried. I'd like to see the US imams take the mantle on this though.

I also agree with Kut that Muslims collectively need to grow up. Especially in America. Guess what? Your religion is no more special than anyone else's. Once they accept cartoons and jokes about the prophet, then they will have assimilated.
Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, all have had their faiths ridiculed in popular culture. It's as American as .....free speech.....

EDIT: And how could I forget, thoughts and prayers out to the victims and their families.

Blood Donors Needed After Orlando Gay Club Shooting, But Queer Men Are Banned

The HIV test has a 99.7% sensitivity. Meaning out of every thousand blood samples with HIV, the test will miss three. Gay and bisexual men account for about 83% of those diagnosed annually with HIV.

in 2010 there were at least 29,000 new HIV diagnoses in MSM (men who have sex with men). In Herero men, non IV drug users it's probably under 3500.

when you consider maybe 2% of men are gay or bisexual but they account for 83% of the new HIV diagnoses, it makes sense to avoid that population as a source for blood donation given that the test for it is far from perfect.

Even when the recipients are in the same risk group? I guess. It's just such a frustrating and tragic situation.

The toll is up to 52 now. :(
