      Quality Punches

I would like to find a source for some quality roll pin, and pin starter punches. Anyone have a favorite source for these, and other common gunsmithing tools? I have picked up some items like this at gun shows and the quality has been a little questionable.

      Milling Done on Glock Slide

Anyone know of a gunsmith in Indiana who can mill the corners and do other work on my Glock 19 slide? There are a few gunsmiths (Glockworx, Bowie, etc.) who can do the work, but I want to check locally first.

Gunsmithing: My Conversion of a Zastava PAP to FULL AUTO

Just kidding... :D What I MEANT to say was my conversion of a PAP to Double Stack, with Threaded Barrel, and requisite 922r compliance parts. I've already done the work, and honestly, I didn't take many photos, but I'll post what I have as I get them uploaded. :ingo:

DIY gunsmithing. Squirrel sniper rifle for my son.

I wanted to get a squirrel sniper rifle for my son to use that had more significance to him than an off the shelf rifle. OK, I really wanted to have a project to work on but that doesn't sound as good. I've been trying to make this thread for a while but realized if I don't just post it up...

      Another DIY gunsmithing thread

I had the opportunity to upgrade the sights on a colt commanding officer slide (officer slide on commander frame) Here is a few pics. Before: Good condition 9mm lightweight Commanding Officer. 1 of 500 Setup for perpendicular and level: Making the cuts: I went ahead and...

      4 AM gunsmithing

This seems to be the only time I can get to myself lately. So this morning when I couldn't sleep I got up and threaded and AR15 barrel for a fellow INGO member. I have been practicing and practicing on threading and I think I have it now. Exhibit A: Indexed the barrel off the bore using my...

      Gunsmithing?

Has anybody done a full tune-up of a Taurus 94 or 941? Becasue the 941 is 8-shot, the hammer movement is much less than a S&W 63, for instance, and makes it harder to really lighten the hammer spring. The shorter fall just won't let momentum build. As a side question, anybody tried to build...

      Gunsmith recommendations near Avon

A friend of mine has a Winchester pump action 12 GA that he needs work done on. It's something his father gave him so he wants to find a reputable gunsmith to do the work. Do any of you know a good gunsmith near Avon? I'm sure he'd be willing to travel further if necessary. UPDATE: I got a...

      Shortening a barrel...pros/cons/experiences

Ive got a Rem 700 SPS with the 24 inch sporter / tapered barrel. Im considering shortening it 4 inches to a 20 to make it a little more manueverable in the woods. What would this cost on average? Right now, Im just under 1 MOA and am happy with the accuracy...wonder if this will be...

      Question regarding barrel crowning!

Gunsmithing: Question regarding barrel crowning! Okay guys, I'm thinking about adding an AK gas block/front sight combo, then shortening, recrowning, and permanently attaching a flash hider. [You know, cause it's gotta be 16", that will make it friendly...] I'm thinking about doing this...

      Gunsmithing Project Du Jour

I have really been totally engrossed with cutting threads lately and have learned I need another tool to do longer barrels so I can index off the bore and not the outside of the barrel. So since I could not buy what I needed for my lathe....actually I didn't even look because I saw one similar...

I stopped in to talk with Danny Favre @ Favre's Guns today about installing a rail on my Remington 1187, and he said he doesn't do that anymore.... which really kind of threw me for a loop since I figured that was just standard gunsmithing type stuff. anyway, Im looking for someone to do...

      Remington Rolling Block conversion question

So, I've been on an old guns kick lately. I just picked up an 1885 Martini-Enfield .303 conversion (Citadel conversion 1905). Anyway, I started looking at Remington Rolling Blocks. They seem to be a dime a dozen in .43 Spanish, a caliber you basically can't get anymore (unless you roll your...

      Gunsmithing: Colt 1991 Compact

Here's a 1991 Compact I've been messing with. I installed an S&A beavertail (looks as seamless in person as in the pics) I had in my parts bin, installed a set of night sights (thanks to CCF for cutting the front dovetail in record time), did what I could with the stock hammer and sear for a...

      1911 Gunsmith?

Hey All,I would like to replace the standard "cut off my love handle" hammer on my 1911 government model with a more rounded "skeletonized" hammer, similar to the Officers model. Any suggestions on someone in Indy who would treat me right and not require an entire tax check to do it? Thanks in...
