Apologies if I put this in the wrong place... If I should post it elsewhere, do say so.
Anyone have a recommendation for a gunsmith in the Muncie area? I've got a rifle and a pistol that need a bit of work. Nothing major, but beyond my meager skills.
While I appreciate any and all...
The Gun is a Savage Model 10FP .308 Win in a Bell and Carlson Medalist stock. I want to add a CDI bottom metal that will work with AI mags. I also want to have the stock bedded and the current 24in barrel threaded for a SAS 7.62 Arbiter TOMB suppressor. My question is, the owner of my local gun...
Going to buy some punches, so I can do some detailed work on a couple of my pistols. Should I get steel, or brass? Going to be removing some roll pins. Thanks......MM
I've got a ruger 10/22 that has two holes on the receiver stripped, I need to get these drilled/retapped to properly tighten up my scope base. Would anyone be so kind as to lead me in the direction of a reputable gunsmith? I'm located west side Indianapolis.
I took my AR to the Applied Ballistics range today to sight in my new Eotech 512. I started having failures almost immediately (I took it out to the range two weeks ago and it was running like a champ).
My AR is a DPMS complete lower (I didn't put any parts into it) and a Palmetto State Armory...
I have a Volquartsen 10/22 (1989 Ruger receiver) that I want to have refinished.....DuraCoat or something similar. I prefer to have it done locally rather than pay shipping charges both ways. Has any one had such refinish work done locally, and if so, can you recommend a local company?
Hi
Since we don't have a gunsmithing forum yet. :D I bought a HR .223 at the Shipshewanna gun show a week ago and after putting 50 rounds through it already. Is there a gunsmith in the North East section of Indiana that could do a trigger job on this rifle. The trigger feels really stiff...
That doesn't cost the life of my first born child? I was looking at brownells buuuuuuut. . .300 dollars for a 1911 basic armorers kit! WTF!!! Really?!!!! I was a computer technician and my kits never cost anything near that. I spent ~150 on a kit that would give me the tools to work on just...
Then I would have a place to put a thread about being excited because I am getting a nice Bridgeport mill.
But I guess I will just have to keep it to myself :(
I've been looking for a deal on a lathe for a while now and found a 14X48 southbend I liked on craigslist. I called my dad to see if he would help me move it if I bought it and he told me to wait. He said there was an auction coming up where they were selling the last Southbend lathe from my...
I have been studying to become a gunsmith, I have 10 lessons done and 9 more to go. I have learned so much between this course, friends and being a member of Ingo. I hope to be able to start a home bussiness and get my FFL.:draw:
Saw the thread trying to get a gunsmithing forum started here on the board so i thought i would contribute.

So here are a few guns I have done while I have been at school in CO. Sorry for not very many in progress pics.
First off is a GI Springfield with nm serial...
As a few people on this site now know I am and was looking to do some work on my 1942 Mosin Nagant 91/30. I was having a terrible time trying to get the sight base taken off due to some stubborn pins. I had done everything I could possibly do with the money I have and had no luck at all. I then...
I've called 4 different shops that advertise gunsmithing, and they've all said they don't pin flash hiders. Isn't that... gunsmithing?
Anyway, does anyone know of any local gunsmiths near Avon? More specifically, ones that do blind pinning or silver soldering :P. I'd even settle for a...
I picked up a barreled 8mm Mauser action a while ago, the front sight was gone and no two parts numbered alike and I figured it would make a good project gun. I'm going to try a lot of things I have never done before so this gun might end up in the safe, or the smelter, if nothing else I hope to...
I'm trying to teach myself gunsmithing in hopes of a career change. I'm getting all the videos and technical manuals I can find. I know that isn't any substitute for actually putting hands on metal, but I'm learning what I can. I already learned pretty well about Glocks and I'm currently...
