What if that 25% of the time includes a belief that we have to get involved in wars in stupid places like Syria and Iran, and what if it appears pretty obvious that she is eaten up with TDS because Trump disrespected her dad? Is 75% good enough in that case?

Some things do need to be pure
It’s not an issue of “perfect” at all. It’s all in what I prioritize as my values. I’d really hate to vote for the daughter of literally Satan. But if the choice is Liz Cheney, daughter of the ******* neocon vice warmonger in chief, I might have to hold my nose like I did when I had to vote for the pornstar ****er. And as that turned out, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

    Ah, purity tests...

...where we value righteous indignation above policy.

I'll take a person who agrees with me 75% of the time over someone I never agree with every time.
Sure. But it wouldn’t hurt my feels to see her primaried.

I will lay odds your and my e-mails go into a dark hole to be cherry picked before being completely read if the ever are.
Those staff could give 2 :poop:s as to what we think. The decisions are already bought and paid for long before we here about them. We no longer have a voice. We did. We elected Trump and it scared the crap out of the Rhino's and crap bags to the point that they all......every freaking one of them.....colluded into the mess we are now being subjected to. The entire bunch needs to go. All of them and the staff the lawyers and those we do not elect that hold sway over us.
Churchmouse, I know you are almost certainly correct. But I can't give up!

The alternative is that we move past the soap box and the ballot box and start flirting with the jury box and the ammo box. If it comes to the ammo box I would prefer it be in my lifetime, and not land on my children. However I am past being a young stud, if I ever was one, it's not like I'm going to be Rambo. More like a speedbump.

I just can't reconcile myself with the thought that government of the people, by the people, for the people has perished from this Earth.

It's quite ... instructive ... that in Jetta world, trying to purge the Trump supporters from the Republican Party raises no such concerns. If I have a say in the matter (and I do) I will purge the 'business as usual, CoC 'republicans' before I will acquiesce to the purge of MAGA. Maybe take the concern trolling elsewhere
When did I say I want to purge Trump supporters?

There's enough words in my mouth without you trying to cram in more. ;)

These are the 35 House Republicans who voted to support Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat 2022 election strategy. These “DeceptiCons” voted to authorize a January 6th Commission to coordinate with the DOJ timing of fraudulent trials.

It seems we have Trey Hollingsworth on the list.

I have somebody in the central state that is representative of me?

    This is news.

As long as we’re discussing bats, can we primary these GOP’ers with someone sane? I don’t mind a sane right-winger representing me but I’d really rather avoid having any more bat **** crazy Republicans in Congress. They’re not part of the solution. Someone who has a firm grasp on reality would be swell.
When Romney packed his carpet-bag for the land of polygamy, he demonstrated a pretty good grasp on reality. He knew the religious zealots would elect him.

The problem with politicians who have a firm grasp on reality - is they're often choking the living schitt out of it.

Nah, I'm ready to go with batschitt crazy. I don't like what the "firm grasp on reality" types are getting me. But, they can feel free to change my mind. I'm persuadable.

    Mourdock proved that.

Shee-et. If I was Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, I'd vote for Mourdock again, every single time, even if the Oracle in The Matrix told me what the outcome would be. Getting rid of Dick Lugar was worth 6 years of Joe Donnelly to me. All we needed was for somebody batschitt crazy enough to come along, to fool the Pro-Life Zealots into not voting for Lugar one time in their life. Mourdock is an idiot, but he was an idiot who delivered. For that, I've come to have a generally forgiving attitude toward him.

Call it the Trump Effect, but I'm starting to have a soft spot for Right Wing Idiots Who Deliver. *

(* ...but if it's Dave Ramsey delivering pizzas, forget it).

I used to think so to but we have Lugar II in there now anyway, albeit not with the power of a 4-decade Senator. Yet. And as nutty as Mourdock is/was I'd vote for him too over Lugar, Donnelly, or Braun, and just roll my eyes at his religious stains all over his shirt sleeves. But, if we have our druthers, how about we don't send bat **** crazy people to primary the RINOs we don't like in the first place. Okay? Why do Republican heroes always have to be so crazy? Can't we find sane people who care about America? We keep digging up idiots like Sarah Palin.

You're part of the problem you say you want to solve. By all indications, Sarah Palin was a successful governor of Alaska. If you want to pull down home types onto the big stage, they're not going to exhibit the same faux erudite views that you do. That bull**** goes hand in hand with failure to deliver every time

Start thinking more Mark Twain or Will Rogers and less T.S. Eliot or Vonnegut

Or just vote Trump 47 :p

If you only look at favorable stuff about Palin you'll think she was successful. Or I guess if by "successful" you mean mediocre, sure. At least she didn't try to sell any open Senator's seat to the highest bidder. So no major scandals like that.

It's not that I don't like down-home types. I kinda think that Kristi Noem is a "down home" type. And I think she's pretty smart and isn't bat **** crazy. You can have both. Let's find something like. Down home. Smart. Not bat **** crazy. Is that too much to ask from a Republican. And hell. I don't even care if it's a Republican. It's just that reality in the Democratic Party forces that person to have to be a Republican.

She might have been a good governor, but like in business she was promoted to the level of incompetence.

And who's up for ranked choice voting?! :)
