    TN outside of Nashville.
    Western Michigan.

That's my short list. I like Midwestern people the best, don't mind the changing seasons, but could live somewhere were the warmth stuck around a little longer in the Fall and came earlier in the Spring.

I love CO and some of the western states but the cost of living there and being so far away from all of my family puts those locations on the "long" list.

Deep South is out, NW is out, NE is definitely out!

Coastal Alaska. Beautiful, not many people, and usually a common-sense state. Climate's too harsh to attract permanent refugees from California.

Lived in Fairbanks many moons ago. Infinite outdoors adventures just a few miles down the road, and if you really get ambitious, hire a plane to drop you off back of beyond.

Only problem is the mosquitoes. :noway:

New Hampshire would be nice, can't beat the live free or die state.
No state income, sales or capital gains tax.
No permit needed to open carry.
    6th highest median income.
Lowest percent of population in poverty.

Back to VA where I'm from and family still is or NC close enough to family but still far enough away. Either place would have to be in the sticks though.

All that, plus it's one of the least religious states in the Union. I'd love to live there, if it wasn't for my roots being here in Indiana. Indy is not bad, though. At least it's not Arkansas or Texas.
