So if I happened to find a bump stock that should have been destroyed, is that all good now?
Possibly in the areas of the 5th circuit court of appeals.

“Eastern District of Louisiana Middle District of Louisiana Western District of Louisiana Northern District of Mississippi Southern District of Mississippi Eastern District of Texas Northern District of Texas Southern District of Texas Western District of Texas”

Another victory for the GOA. So what now ? Does the .gov have to pay back all those people who threw away their stocks ?
Are people who still own their bump stocks from prior to the ban going to get in trouble if they own “pre-ban” stocks? I’m just confused on how they were illegal and we are supposed to get rid of them all, now they’re legal to own again.

Not legal yet except in the district the decision came from.

I had read of all the bump stocks only 160 were ever turned in. Will people still get in trouble having them. ATF won’t care about any laws. Sure you might win in court after you spend all your money on a lawyer. ATF could care less.

It's a very well-written and thorough decision....almost like the judges think that it will be reviewed by the Supreme Court.
Isn't the most likely outcome, though, that SCOTUS will just deny cert and wait until another circuit court rules differently, resulting in disagreement among the circuits? If that happens, everyone not in the jurisdiction of 5DCA will kind of be left in limbo.

    Apparently three others already have.

Yes, whether immediately or later, that's where this issue is headed. For now, the thoroughness invites other circuits and district courts from around the country to cite it, and those in the 5th Cir.,of course, to follow it.
