More power to you guys if you want to eat them. I'm not desperate enough for protein to try that. If I go 2-3 more years sans deer and my boys continue their eating trajectory I may be on the next round though.

Weird, I have hear nothing and not seen any shells or live bugs. :dunno:
My daughter lives your way and she doesn't have any either on the west side. I'm not sure you will see them.

We have thousands of them. I took some pictures of the area around my large Pin Oak and it is covered with carcasses. And the singing is getting loud.

They are smashed all over the road and my yard has been aerated! Yippie!

Wow! I've only seen one in my yard North side of Indy. I've seen some ground holes.

This is nowhere near as bad as the last cicada hatch ~8 years ago. I'm not sure what that last wave was called but my dogs wouldn't stop eating them.

Went out to Ft. Harrison State Park today, in NE Indy/Lawrence. Didn’t see any shells or hear any, but did see hundreds of ground holes on the trail.

Same. Down at Cataract Falls. Holes EVERYWHERE.

I have yet to see or hear one on the SW side of Indy.

Now tree frogs? Holy crap Ours have been mating like rabbits. Those things are nuts in my hood.

CSB: when Mrs Monkey and I were newlyweds, she was interviewed by fox59 about the last generation. County line across from Smock? Holy crap they were everywhere. And LOUD.

Interesting. I am between St. Joe and Darmstadt and they started hatching Thursday and the last two days the chirping has been intolerable. The trees are covered with shells and they are flying all over the place.
I'm in the UE area. Maybe the more central urban location has minimal numbers.

Snorko, I know that area has a lot of older homes but if the land has been disturbed in the last 17 years, there probably won't be many...or any.
's what is weird. no land disturbance, lots of trees, and large boulevards and small parks. I grew up in the same general area and I remember always finding shells and occasional hatched bugs. And yeah, the singing...

It's probably just a quirk of weather from 17 years ago.
