My old walker coon hound loved them things he would eat them until his belly bulged. It never hurt him so I guess you can eat them.

    In the trees
Sunday I wrapped my most vulnerable tree in window screen as that is all I could find that would repel an insect the size of a cicada. This morning I learned the 'experts' say to not wrap them until you see evidence of the bug, so I took it down. Think I'm glad I did as a week in that netting will probably kill the tree.

I was sent these pics Sunday. Taken in BC state park. I have yet to see any cicadas, but keep seeing random holes in the ground from all sorts of critters emerging.

I think we'll be hearing them before long. Neighbor lady sent me pics of the shells they come out of. I've seen a half dozen of these shed shells in the garden.

I have let my grass grow to knee high. When I first hear them. Bush hog followed by a finish mower......I will slaughter them by the thousands.

Apparently they emerge when the soil temp hits 64 degrees. The Evv local forecast for the next week is mid 60s for lows, mid to upper 80s for highs. Yeah, They're a comin'
