It was more the situation that was in play and how the little twitch said it as if he was safe from being reduced to a pile of waste. Phone in hand. The ultimate force shield.....:lmfao:
I'm scared to ask, but...how did you come in contact with such an...um...being?

My opinion, is that urban areas attract a wide variety of people. So people regularly come into contact with people from different nationalities, religions, races, economic backgrounds, educational backgrounds, regions, and so forth. So they tend to be a bit more worldly and tolerant of views differing from their own. I think a combination of those factors trends someone liberal.
My take is very different. The division really is dependent vs. independent. The urban dwellers are wholly dependent on others for everything, every basic human need is dependent on others. Socialism is not very far from their everyday lives and sounds great from that position of being dependent for so much in their lives. Many of them cannot go up the elevator without assistance.

They are trying to impose their dependence on the independent half of the country...

I have done quite a bit of research on this subject of division. Was tired of the Republican vs Democrat debate - both parties are playing us. America is divided by four distinct realities now and they are miles apart. We no longer have common morals and ideas of what America is and should be. I agree with Ingomike, the first is dependent vs
Independent. Second is rural vs. City. Third is government vs. Non government (government jobs, services, reliance). These 3 are very similar. Those that want to be left alone vs. Those that want to be taken care of. For some, a false sense of security is more important than freedom. I can deal with a lot of things but infringement of my freedoms is unacceptable. The fourth is the so called elites vs the normal american people. The power grab of the elites is disgusting. They have sold us out and are dividing us to keep us preoccupied. We are to a point where these differences may not be able to be resolved and every 4 years we get a completely new America where half the country is pissed off.

    Interesting points of division...

I've never met anyone who cannot go on an elevator without assistance, and I've lived in Marion county since 1995. I have met some slack-jawed yokels from the donut counties that were scared to drive on I-465, though.

Everyone is dependent on other people for something. The idea that "urban dwellers" (whatever the **** that means) are somehow helpless while the small towns and trailer parks of rural Indiana are filled with bootstrap pulling rugged individualists is so absurd as to be hilarious.

    Have you ever been outside?

Indiana has flat parts? (lived in Oklahoma for many years, you don't know flat until you've been out there)
I take it you've never been north of Indy? Literally flatter than Kansas.

And just as boring. Kokomo literally has a tree stump as a tourist attraction. :):

I've been through Oklahoma several times on I-44 and I-40 and never thought of it as particularly flat until I got west of Oklahoma City on I-40. I Googled it, and sure enough, Indiana is much flatter overall than Oklahoma.

Off-topic, but interesting. Florida is the flattest, which absolutely does not surprise me, given several road trips that I've taken down there.

From this post I wonder if you ever have been out. Maybe some introspection on this would bring about deeper meaning.

In many cities and buildings there is an elevator operator. Indy is a city but not like NY, where it seems the political thinking is composted. In Indy most still have a car, vs. the urban cities where most do not, or it is a get out of the city vehicle nit their transportation to work and life. Most of Marion county is not urban in my book. And of course there are exceptions.

As for the more rural, they are far more like to be engaged with more rural activities like boats, RV's, cutting wood, many things discussed here. Much more independent and they like their freedom.

Apparently you thought my post as silly as I yours. LOL

Well maybe you can shed some light on why an urban lifestyle is dependence and a rural lifestyle is "freedom." Boats and RVs? Please.

The world is more varied and complicated that you think it is. An "urban dweller" might very well think that the dependence on a vehicle, with its associated insurance and maintenance costs, to buy a loaf of bread at a store 20 minutes away is not exactly the best indicator of "freedom."

Not applicable if you are growing your own bread, of course. :):

I can't really post that, I would not want to endanger the entire sociology field with a single post. LOL

Are you really saying you do not see the dependent vs. independent mindset at work in our politics? That those closer to the land, the 50% that live in the gray area of the map, are different in their thinking than those in dense urban environments? If not why do you think the map of democrat voting counties looks almost identical to the high density areas on the map?

Only if you are viewing from Cook (or Crook) County... Get south of Marion and Harrisburg, and the hills start getting pretty "interesting"
How about if I view it from Brownburg, IN?

I've traveled all over S. IL and IMO, the south starts in Illinois south of I74. The accents change, the look changes, the people change.

In Indiana I would say it's south of I70 from Ohio and south of I74 west of Indy.
