I've used 15-20 of Pyrodex in my 1851 because of saving the real black for flintlocks and grease over the ball but ordered lubed wads from Track of the Wolf to try next time. Seems like the wads will be more convenient. I also installed Slixshot nipples because the ones that came with it were too long, the caps extended past the recoil shield so it was a single shot at first. I carefully placed the cap on the ready chamber while holding the hammer back with my thumb and finger in front of the trigger guard. They have shorter nipples for the pocket revolvers that fit mine perfectly. Just need to know the proper threads.

I had two different flasks with me yesterday. Both loaded with 2f, because that’s what I had on hand. One had a 15 gr spout and the other a 20gr. I didn’t bring my adjustable powder measure with me. I also didnt have any wads. I covered the cylinder face with bore butter. I am going to make me some wads for ease of shooting and also to fill up the chambers a bit more. The bullets seated fine with both loads, but it seemed like there was a lot of space left in the front. No need to ‘hot rod’ it but I’d like to try up to 25 gr next time. I have three pounds of 3f and 750 RWS caps on the way.

Here are a couple of my favorites. I inherited them from my father waaaaay back in 1979 when he passed away. Both genuine Colts. The '60 is martially marked and ALL numbers match. The stock is a repro.
The '49 pocket model has provinance back to William "Buffalo Bill" Cody.
They get exercised every once in a great while. I don't believe in safe queens.
