We got people on wife’s side we can no longer visit because she is about to have a baby and after we will have to test before going over. Although I respect what they want for their household, my question is are they in that house going to daily test themselves every time they leave the house? And I thought it was super low % of children even getting it and even lower anything bad happening to children. I would think the flu would be worse for them. I’m stuck now being the bad guy if I don’t ram a stick up my nose now.
    Is this their first baby?

I would expect that children do get it, because their internal systems function in the same manner as adults and they are well supplied with ACE2 receptor sites. I think, since much of the damage done in healthy people seems tied to insufficiently well targeted immune responses, and very young children have only rudimentary immune development, that they can have it, clear it and it is not obvious that such has happened

I have seen this a lot affecting friends that are being forced to jump through hoops to see their children and or grandchildren. Society raised these young people to live as risk free as possible and many are now demanding it of their parents. Of the 50-75 age group it seems to me that a sizable majority would never have taken jab but for their kids and work...

There was a really good article in conservative media (my recollection was from 2020 or 2021 on The Federalist). on children holding grandchildren hostage to force parents to get the jab and exerting other controls such as masking and quarantines. I have searched so much but cannot find it…

I've heard mention of this here on INGO where members children weren't allowing them to see grandchildren unless they've been vaccinated. What a crock of dog :poop:

I would have to remind them that if they leave the home and return for the next 5 days before they can get an accurate test, they are abusing their infant by exposing the baby to covid.

We moved to New Mexico during Covid. Bought a house here before Covid to be near our daughter and husband to be able to help with new grandson. (Big mistake in my opinion, but……)

Anyway, she tried the you’re not going to be able to see him if you’re not vaccinated. We simply said guess we’re moving back to Wisconsin then. Once they wanted to go back out partying the need for a free babysitter seemed to overcome the fear of Covid, somehow? My wife wore a mask at their house but not ours, while babysitting. I wore a mask probably 5 hours total in 3 years, mostly at doctors visits.

There was some risk of course, she could have stood her ground. He is so far a healthy 18 month old, tho twice vaccinated. My wife wanted to move down here and I grudgingly came along. She was the first to broach the idea of moving back.

Our daughter is a pharmaceutical sales rep and travels weekly, worldwide. Home every weekend. Her husband tried to quarantine her in home from their infant at the beginning of this insanity. I said this exact same thing to her. She will try to push her mother around but pretty much knows I won’t take her crap.
