No one beats the market long-term. No one. And if you think you can time the market successfully long-term, there's this bridge...

Pretty much this, unless you've got tens or hundreds of billions to throw around. Fidelity contra-fund has consistently been one of my best performers and has beaten the market, assuming you mean any of the major indexes, since inception and for the past 10 years. It's one of the few, and personally I think it's because it's so large it's a market of it's own.

I kind of lucked into it when it was one I could invest in with our retirement plan at work. It's over 50% of my total holdings now and consistently been a strong performer. I pick a few individual stocks just for the hobby of it, nothing real significant in the scheme of things, but so far the only thing I've lost money on was Mattel. Buy your kids more toys, people. I've recovered to almost even.

People still go to Starbucks? Guess it's not too overpriced yet, then. I can't think of the last time I was in one that wasn't in an airport or abroad.

I'm with you. No $5 coffees for me.

That said, it's hard to go by one that the drive up line isn't full and overflowing.

Then it's still priced at what the market will bare. It's baffling to me. I had no idea what UberEats charged until a recent thread here. Also baffling to me, especially here where everyone owns a car but the roads aren't completely clogged 24/7 like LA. I get paying for convenience to a point, but I'd never pay that much of a fee for someone to bring me food.

Another factor in the food delivery business is that at least some (doordash?) jew the price down at the restaurant. This is why Dominos Pizza is handing out OTHER restaurants’ coupons when they deliver, as a show of solidarity with small business.

You and Whoopi really missed that anti-semitism memo?

Dominos is handing out other's coupons? That's pretty cool.

I know food delivery has always been with us, but it really seemed to move upscale in recent history.

    That's not entirely correct.

You can set your price on doordash, but they still take their fee (21-25%). Smart restaurants (and many chains), put a 25% increase to their pricing on doordash, so the net at the restaurant level is roughly the same as a direct guest.
