    Lol now to ban fingers.

Hence why a lot of us thought the bumpstock ban was completely asinine in the first place. I can make one at Home Depot for $15 or just learn to do it without one.

Like all of these tragedies, the plain fact of the matter is that a person intent on creating havoc is going to figure out a way to do it. From an elevated position like Mandalay Bay, there was no shortage of options. In fact, I'm glad that guy's imagination stopped at the stock on his rifle.

If I had to choose between a bump stock and a binary trigger. I'd have to go with the Binary Trigger for suppressive fire they seem to be more accurate :ar15:

If we're giving the finger to the feds, why not just go for a better option.

We're already felons if anything biden is doing gets through, so why not? Are they going to make buying scrap sheet metal illegal?

    Pro Tip:

Be careful about giving the finger to a fed. They may well want to diddle it.

Cycle rate is pretty much that of the action since it's all done with recoil. So, however fast the bolt can move is pretty much the maximum you can get out of it, just like an FA.
The cycling rate is pretty fast but definitely not as fast as the bolt carrier group can move and not as fast as full auto. Remember the whole rifle moves back and forth during a bump fire cycle.
The reciprocating mass in full auto is just the bolt carrier group, buffer and ammo. This mass moves about 3.5 to 3.9 inches.
The reciprocating mass with a bump fire is the same plus the mass of the rest of the rifle and all the ammo. This greater mass moves maybe half an inch at the most but this slows down the maximum rate of fire. This is a variable because it depends on how hard you push the rifle forward.

The reciprocating mass counts. Remember you can vary the full auto rate of fire just by changing the mass of the buffer.

OK. I'm more of a binary trigger guy anyhow and that isn't nearly as recoil dependent.

I see no practical reason for 1911s to exist and would be in favor of banning the platform

I can make the case for owning most any firearm. It is a material item, which Stephen Paddock did effectively use to increase his kill-count during the Las Vegas shooting in 2017. Other than using it for what Stephen Paddock used it for, what purpose does it serve?
Actually there is a very good chance that by using a bumpstock he lowered his count. Aimed fire could have been much more effective.

A large mass of people without cover. The only thing we know is, we still don't know anything. No wonder conspiracy theories abound, rumors thrive in an information vacuum.

Aimed fire without a device notorious for jamming would've made things much worse. Again there are a lot of (to borrow a line from Don Rumsfeld) "unknown-unknowns" here.

Yep. Have they even stated they he actually used a bumpstock? I know they said some of the guns were equipped with them, but I can't remember if they stated he actually used one.

So the reasoning I'm seeing for a bump stock is "because." That's a terrible reason to advocate for (or against) something.

The reasoning “for” a bumpstock is that reasons against it are retarded. In a free society the default is the freedom to do what you please, for any reason, while respecting others’ right to the same, and you better have a ***damn good reason to restrict something. I’m indifferent on bumpstock ownership. I don’t see the value other than novelty. It’s only when you decide to use yours to harm other people that I care about YOUR ownership. Then I’m happy that they’ve taken YOURS away as they cart you off to jail.

Note: “you” and “YOUR” are used rhetorically here to make the point.
