It's the woke military and it's causing good men to leave as well as keeping good men away.
Get rid of the wokeness and weak leadership. You will see good men joining and staying in.
Who wants to join the military now? Who wants to stay in now?
True. All true. The leadership is weak! The fact Biden used Marines as a political backdrop during his "independence speech" and they allowed that shows just how weak they are.

    Stupid.

Much as corporate governance has no business pursuing goals that do not increase shareholder value, military governance has no business pursuing goals that do not increase readiness and lethality

Mission creeps have become a real problem

Kill people and destroy things in the most efficient means possible ought to be the primary objective. Anything that gets in the way of that should be tossed onto the scrap heap.

While I agree it may be a mess in some respects right now, I hardly believe it is the hopeless/lost cause some make it out to be.

Anyone remember the 60's? We survived Johnson and Tricky Dick, We survived all the Clinton and Obama years. Yes there are kinky things being done now but the Military is still viable. Maybe not as viable as we would like but still effective.

Having dealt with potential military enlistment aged kids for awhile in high school I can tell you they are the same as we were at that age. In many ways we were a mess, so are they. But they are by far headed to be good adults.

It is not as bad as being portrayed by some in this thread.

Our grandson just got out of the Army this spring after three years. He told me that there was a noticeable difference in training and attitude in those three years and not for the better. Jim.

In the long ago days when I was a Drill Sergeant. We used to get CAT 4‘s this means they barely capable of basic math and reading.

Unfortunately IMO most were not a result of lack of education. They were SLOW and I almost felt sorry for them.

I remember one that the other Privates had to help him get dressed. He would put his boots on the wrong foot and move around in formation. This resulted in mass punishment for the Platoon.

I hope they don’t drop to CAT 4‘s again.

Citing a Feb. 16 congressional hearing, a DoD report reveals that 77% of Americans in the above age group could not physically qualify to enter the armed forces - a 6% increase from 2017.

Add to that criminal records, mental health issues, drug use,and the inability of many to pass even basic entrance exams even after "finishing" high school. Those who will not join woke indoctrination are not even included in any stats, but they exist I assure you.

"In response to this challenge, the U.S. military is adjusting its fitness requirements for some jobs, especially those that aren’t physically demanding, such as technology-based positions."

Combine that with the leading cause of death for 18-45 year olds (a population also referred to as "Military aged") is drug overdoses (primarily fentanyl) and we have a shrinking pool to draw the 23%.

I've been retired (from the USAF, not from working) so long it's like we were flying balloons back when I was in uniform. Not literally, but from a "we didn't have this woke BS 86-07" standpoint.

All branches are affected by a lack of newbies coming through the door. Even when recruitment was in the dumpster pre-911 the USMC made it's goals IIRC. That branch will be affected more than the others by not making recruitment goals. Basically 20% turnover every year IIRC.

Bigger problem: officers don't get promoted by quoting Jim Lovell (Houston, we have a problem.) I saw this in the mid-late 90s during Slick Willie's reign of making all government larger except the DoD (that's how Algore reinvented government.) Using the pre-Desert Storm standards, a lot of units weren't fully capable of carrying out the wartime requirements. A writer for the Air Force Times (pre-Gannett, back when it was a good read) used the analogy, "The Air Force doesn't measure how much water is in the cattle's watering tank, they count the number of dead cows in the pen" referring to the cannibalization of aircraft for spare parts and treating wartime spares (aircraft parts on aircraft pallets ready to go in 24-72 hours) as an auxiliary warehouse.

Just to review: the Military needs young folks, a lot of them.

It's: History of anxiety meds. I suspect the constant bombardment of doom porn and always being connected has lead to a lot of it. Talking to my son and his (admittedly dorky) friends, they don't care about the things us middle aged vets care about. Teen brains are still teen brains. They just want to know they can still get on social media and be dumbasses without being outcasts.
They should join INGO. No doom porn here.

If anyone is shocked or amazed by this..it's been happening since I joined in 85.When we took the exam to enter basic training,I thought it was a quiz to sort out the idiots.Turns out it was a welcoming mat for them. The posted scores of people then scared the crap out of me.Now with this ignorant woke crap, tranny's in conservative fighting men out and now no real physical fitness?Nope I wouldn't encourage anyone young who is worth a crap to join.Instead I would encourage them to train like mad with those who know what's up and prepare for the war that's coming here.
