I think the rule you’re referring to is, while in the classified ad section, don’t reply to an ad. The reason is because it bumps it (which is only allowed once every 24 hours), and starts conversation, which would really muddle up the classies.

You are to respond to ads via pm, which here is called “start conversation” when you click on someone’s name.

I don’t know how much you’ve looked around, but we can make 5 pages out of a nothing subject, or take a serious subject like a certain group of people enacting vengeance on a certain day and completely turn it into a junior high boys locker room conversation. The mods don’t deserve to have that in the classies, too.
