    Yo Rusty,

Why go with a carb instead of one of the new EFI setups?

Only thing cooler would have been a hot 292 I6 with Clifford parts.

I don't have much to contribute, but I am rebuilding the subframe, and all new front suspension. I'm starting to do more chassis work, as well more fabled wide 5 spindles. And as always tubular A frames.
The main frame is DuCall tube, all built in house on our frame jig. View attachment 169422
Your car or are you the fab shop?

It's been over 15yrs since I had my hands on a late model. But that front clip looks very similar to the Port City Chassis we used to run

Simplicity. We still love carbs in our shop. The other truck in our shop has a Holley EFI system. Sure it’s neat, but personally don’t see any benefits. That’s just me. It’s more money, more complicated, can’t be fixed on the side of the road, requires a computer to tune it, not to mention the knowledge to do so… I just don’t see the benefits personally.

And I agree on the 292! I had one earlier this year, but all that stuff is gone now..

This s10 chassis swap has been a favorite project of mine in my 15 years in this hobby/career. It was a dream of mine to do it and got lucky a customer was willing to go through with it.

I would actually love to build one for myself as a daily. ‘46 Chevy or a late 40’s early 50’s Studebaker or IH on an s10 chassis with a carbed 2.5l iron duke 4 banger and a 5 speed. I just think it would be a cool daily.

It looks like you guys had a clean S10 frame to work with. I like that you guys kept the brake pedal through the floor.

And come on the iron duke? The 4.3 makes a great daily. I'd like to see what you guys did to this one to bump the hp. Always wanted to do a hot 4.3 in an S10 or a sbc swap. 4.3 is more unique though

The s10 had 374,000 miles on it. I had to do some repairs on the rear rails, but overall it wasn’t bad. The kit we bought was supposed to use the s10 firewall section and brake pedal as well as the s10 steering column. I didn’t want to do any of that so we bought a master and booster for the 51 chassis and I made the brackets to adapt it to the s10 chassis. I also was able to use the original floor pedal parking brake, that took some work to engineer… I was able to modify the original 3 on the tree shifter to shift the 700r4 automatic. That was probably my favorite part of the whole build. As you sit in it, there are very few clues that something is up. Very stealth build and that was the goal. Hope to drive it next week!

Oh I love a 4.3, but the older I get, the more I just wanna cruise. Stack up the miles and explore and cheaply as possible in style. Iron duke would provide me with plenty of enjoyment and plenty of mpgs while being easy to work on.

I’d have to ask the boss about the specs on the 4.3, he scienced it all out. It’s not a super crazy build, but it should scoot pretty good. Truck doesn’t weigh anything either.

And yes there are stories of a guy rolling around town here back in the day with I think a Chevy deuce with a hopped up Clifford 292 and a 5.88 gear. Not much gonna beat that light to light and not much did. Fun to hear the stories.

We built this car a few years ago, we sold it to build a new one. It is very similar to a port city. The person we sold to is local and we're doing a front clip, for them. Our big thing is we produce suspension parts, chuck us out ubmachineinc.com, you mentioned port city, I won't say who, but we are the O.E.M to a few chassis builders.

    Very nice.
I scrolled through all the pictures and only one thing I don't like about it. As nicely done as this car is, it really needs better seats than those plastic buckets.

Our front clip jig.....and the new clip is under the car, need to finish welding and then start on the suspension. Need to fab up wide 5 spindles, need to pull a set of a arms off the self and start hanging the parts. Resized_Resized_20211129_094808.jpg Resized_Resized_20211129_125150.jpg
