Doesn't matter to me. My pistols all currently have a safety, but I carry with the safety disengaged. If it's my carry/home-defense (the same, since I home-carry) gun, I engage the safety when it is off-body. The rest of my firearms are unloaded and separated from ammo, so presence or lack of safety is irrelevant.

    I voted no safety.
Safety is keeping it in your holster during the day or quick safe at night.
Safety is quickness and speed on the clean defensive draw.
Safety is being careful and intentional.
I asked the same thing to my self. When I decided I was ready to carry and after watching lots of videos of real gunfights, home invasions, retail store hold-ups, I decided I won't have time or the motor memory to mess with an external safety.

Both. Or maybe neither? I carry Glocks, 1911s and CZs from time to time. Glocks are carried with no safety. 1911s are carried with the thumb safety. CZs have a thumb safety, but I carry with the safety off and the hammer at the half cock notch. So my answer is that yes, I carry with a safety and no, I don't carry with a safety and sometimes I carry with a safety, but don't use it.

I have a 1911 but don't carry it. I have not trained with one in a long time and I don't trust myself to remember to sweep off the safety in a pinch. If I change my mind about carrying the 1911 it will only be after a lot of re-training myself. I really don't see that happening.
