I think a get together would be alot of fun. I know I wouldnt be able to compete with you guys, But would be worth maybe learning something new

I just got my 40X 22lr trainer bolted back together after putting a fresh coat of paint on it. Camera colors are kind of screwed up so the pics look mismatched.

    Over by the lake.
Believe it or not sir, even an iron sighted AR is capable of excellent accuracy out to 500 yards. As is the M1 and M1A type rifle and many other inexpensive mil-surp rifles.

It is called the "riflemans quarter mile". It is a standard of accuracy that many aspire to.

THATS NO JOKE!!!! I know 42769vette has it vividly crammed in his memory as well as mine.

At his last shoot in April an INGO member jrainw or something or other, went 10 for 11 on a torso sized target at 700 yds. It was an AR-15 that he used in Camp Perry matches....since the day I saw that I question my skills.

Yep and it is a rare dude that don't shoot their best scores at the 500 yard line.(Shooting HP matches) My standing 200 was always my worst.

His name is Joe Rainwater. I was not at the cited match, but I have shot with Joe many times at CIHPRS matches at Camp Atterbury. He is a fine young man and one of the top Service Rifle shooters in the State, maybe the whole country.

He can really make the AR15A2 sing a pretty song. I think he shoots a standard RRA NRA/CMP Service Rifle. Nothing real special except for the skills behind the buttplate. I think he started shooting 5 or less years ago....

I wouldn't be so sure. I actually outshot a 3 time National Champion. ONCE. But I will never forget it. EVER.

Besides it isn't about scores. It is about friendships and carmadraty.

Hell, since I can't spell it, it is really about scores.:D

Here are a couple of mine:

FNH PBR with a SAS can and a Nikon 4.5-14x. Basically a model 70 Winchester. Great adjustable trigger. Came in the Hogue stock, which I've stiffened the front end on. I need to 'glass bed it soon. It'll shoot under a half inch at 100 yards when I do my part.

    GunPics007-9.jpg

AR with a heavy 18" barrel. Scope is NOT that far forward now, I was messing around and don't have any new pics. It's currently set up with a 1.5-5x scope in case I ever get to go multi-gunning. It shoots well under an inch with both Nosler Ballistic Tips and Barnes Varmint Grenades. I had it cut and threaded to fit my .30 cal can. It's long set up that way, but fun to shoot!

    GunPics009-6.jpg

Savage MKII .22 LR with my OutBack II. Currently has a Vortex 6-18X50 scope on it! It'll shoot under a half inch at fifty and just over an inch at 100 yards. I've got a 4x6" hunk of 1/4" plate I hang up at 150 yards (max on my range) and can hit it pretty much every shot! With subsonic ammo, I can fire, open teh bolt, eject the empty and be closing the bolt for another shot by the time I hear the ding!

    GunPics001-10.jpg

Only target pics I have are from the Savage .22

    GunPics005-8.jpg

    GunPics004-9.jpg

And one that is gone. It's a Springfield M1A. Nothing special, but had a Sadlak scope mount, Leupold 4-12, and a USGI fiberglass stock. I was getting it near consistant MOA when it went up for sale.

Like most of us here, I really need to get to the range more to realize the accuracy of these rifles. I shoot the Savage .22 every range trip, no matter what and I always end up hanging the steel at the back of the range and having fun plinking at it.

Finally figured out where the camera was. Savage 10FP, Leupold VX1 3x9. Caldwell Bipod. Nothing fancy at all, but it shoots nice!

Don't have a nice group to post up, but I do have a video of a 300 yard shot. At the end of the video you hear me deciding I'll leave the other 300 target for dad, and I'll go for 400. Well, didn't 'splode the milk jug at 400, so I've got some work to do still on making sure my dope is right.

These were the two targets at 300. Mine was the left, dad's was the right. We were pleased. :)

Both shoot stupid small groups and are a blast to cut loose!

Nice AR's John! What kind of groups do ya get out of them?

I have a load worked up for the Bear that gave me a 4 shot group of .144 at 100 yds and .334 with the 5th flyer. I haven't worked a specific load up yet for the JP, but it easily does 1/2 " with Black Hills 123 Scenars. I'm lazy and don't have to work the bolt with these semi-autos :D
