Just ordered an EGO line trimmer from Ace. Was just going to get the tool only for 159.99, but they had the same one with the battery and charger for $199.99, and I had a $20 off reward, so 179.99. 20 bucks is well worth getting the extra battery and charger. Free delivery tomorrow too.

Heavy, straight shaft, not easy to edge with.
This is the one I got. 7 1/2 lbs., so not too bad. I've already made the investment in two other EGO tools so figured I'd stick with it for battery compatibility.

I have not seen those but I already hate them.

I've never had a dependable one of any brand.
    :(
I've got an Echo gas powered trimmer, and haven't had any trouble with it. I should probably sell it since I don't use a trimmer all that often (one of the reasons a battery powered was appealing - don't have to worry about gas going bad).

That actually looks pretty cool to me.
Miles better than the battery POS I have.

I prefer the straight shaft trimmers. I feel it gives me better control.

I think my Echo is curved shaft, but all the commercial guys use straight shaft trimmers that I've seen. I figure they have a reason.

I have had a Ryobi 4 stroke one for years now. Best trimmer I ever owned and have done our little trail+yard with it. Never had a single issue with it.

I may get this attachment for it this year.
