Not mine but I was playing around with one of these last night. Very interesting. Very interesting. Semi-automatic transmission. It auto-shifts DOWN but manually shifts UP with a paddle shifter. No clutch. Pretty instantly moves from one gear to the next, so no way to use the friction zone because that simply doesn't exist. Reverse gear for pulling out of parking spots. Only 1 foot brake, no hand brakes. NO lean. Easiest way to describe the ride is that it is like a snowmobile with wheels.

Owner is one of my club members at the fencing club, he and I planning a "swap" the bike one night, just to **** off our wives, and take each others bikes home for the night. He wants a DCT really badly but when Covid shut down production and the supplies dried up he took a look at the CanAm.

For those of us who go far afield, and find ourselves outside of cellular coverage, and consequently use satellite communicators on our scooters, it appears that there is some big news from SPOT Satellite Communicators.

Got this public press release today from SPOT about a change to the emergency rescue provider:

Change to Search & Rescue (SAR) Member Benefits

    Valued SPOT Customer,

We wanted to inform you of the upcoming changes to our search and rescue (SAR) Member Benefit offering and how these changes affect you.

After an extensive search, SPOT has chosen a new provider for its SAR Member Benefit coverage. This new coverage will increase security and
medical benefits available to our customers. The new plan is called Global Overwatch & Rescue™ and will be offered to our customers worldwide. The new Global Overwatch & Rescue™ Plan, now offered to SPOT users, includes 24/7 multi-lingual crisis consultation and coordinated, in-country assistance, up to and including evacuations for medical mishaps, natural disasters, terrorism, pandemics like COVID-19, riots, strikes and civil commotion and much more.

As a SPOT customer, you can remain confident that your rescue benefit coverage will continue to cover unexpected costs associated with a rescue. We are also pleased to share that these improved benefits come with no increase to cost for our existing customers.

The new Global Overwatch & Rescue™ Plan will be in effect on September 1, 2021 and the transfer of your service from the current provider does not require any action on your part.

As an added benefit, the individual who has purchased the Global Overwatch & Rescue™ Plan will no longer need to pay for any out-of-pocket expenses, should they occur, as these costs will be covered for any qualifying event in a given year.

For complete details on the Global Overwatch & Rescue™ Plan, visit here.

For additional information, please consult our support section here.

    Regards,
    SPOT Marketing

Damn, it sounds like they're prepared to send a team of mercenaries if it gets bad enough. :):
Well my motorcycle has only been as far as Canada but if needed, it looks like I'm covered for whatever retreat the French Canadians have planned if I am in need of hitting the SOS button on my SPOT X satellite communicator.

Honestly probably need the SOS function more in New York or Chicago than on some gravel path in Quebec.

When I bought my trike, I noticed a bell hanging from the lower part of the bike, I researched and found out about "Gremlin Bells"....the story goes they have to be gifted, and must remain with the original owner, my wife says she's not superstitious, and won't buy me a new one, so still have the one when I bought the bike....is it bad luck?

When I bought my current bike (used) the owner actually pointed out the bikes bell and gifted it to me as we finalized the sale. I hope that's got me covered. So far, so good.

Any research found that you can't have a second bell?

From what I've read the original owner should keep it, but I guess buying the bike, the bell should be a gift?.............I'm not too superstitious, but why take a chance....

    Bells ?
And here I always thought it was good luck when you took a cute chic for a ride and she gave you a reach around and pressed up against your back.

    Bells huh ?

My bike came with a gremlin bell hanging in a pretty discrete location. I had to research to figure what it was. The former owner had said nothing of it.

I discovered the bell was missing some time later and paranoia bugged me for a bit. I thought of replacing it to not mess with karma or vudu or fate or whatever. Never got it replaced, so I guess I'll just keep trying my damnedest to stay up on two wheels?

I'll take whatever luck I can get and be grateful for it, but working on myself being the best rider I can seems to be the winning strategy for me.

I would put more faith in your riding skills than the bell. I know the story and you read more on it and enjoy the story. Either way kickstand up and enjoy this weather to ride! I’m trying to today but doubt it.. too much to do. Daughters wedding to clean up after

The bell (missing in my case) reminds me that I need to get back to doing some parking lot work.
