    Checked my date stamps on pictures. Earliest was 4/19/21 Latest 5/12/2021 My data from 2019 and 2020 is within date range.
    I have a couple spots I use as barometer and don't get too excited until I find them there. I actually take the surface temp of the ground. Magic number seems to be ~60 deg. F. I'm in Cass County.

    When the ground hits 50F and stays there, we start looking. As a kid, that meant the yard had been mowed at least once and the trees were starting to bud out. South facing slopes and fence rows first, then you'd move on from there to other areas. My guess is we'll find some this weekend here.

    I have a friend who has grays come up in his yard every year. He told me he saw some yesterday popping up. He had to look close because they looked like rabbit "smart pills" they were so small. He tries to cover them because of frost but has not been successful so far. Larger ones will pop as the temps rise.
