At Dover AFB we would sent new airmen to go find us a gallon of K9P solvent. We would call ahead to the shop we would send them to. That shop would send them to another one and call ahead. This would go on till they would get to the 4th or 5th shop. The last shop would send them to the security police kennel….
Saw this in the Funny Pic thread and it reminded me of reveille in MARDET on the carrier. We had a significant number of dark skinned Marines. When reveille sounded and everyone was groggy and struggling to get going they would put "Play That Funky Music White Boy" on a ghetto blaster at full volume. There was always a commotion from the, let's say less colorful Marines, who would have preferred Country music. Nearly turned into a fight at times.
It was effective at getting the troops up and rolling. Always made me laugh.
With the 80th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy approaching in June, some of the actors decided they would commemorate the D-Day landings by training at Camp Toccoa and then jumping into the Cotentin Peninsula.
