I’ve heard good things about under armor boxer briefs, price wise they are in line with the exo’s, I have no personal experience with them.

At this very moment I was looking for a new backpacking pillow.
I have a Sea to Summit Aeros. It has served me quite well, but alas it has reached the limit of usability(yea it goes flat after an hour and already has several patches and plenty of wear). This is likely something I will order tomorrow.

So while looking I found the "shinny new Sea to Summit" inflatable with DOWN. Now it is substantially more expensive at $59 dollars, but the thing that caught my attention was "noiseless" and baffled(the down),but it is still an inflatable (so you can adjust the firmness, the down is more like a topper). The original is $39. I will be honest the reviews seem to go both ways from "it is the best" to "gimmick" for the down topped one.
    INGO poll.
Thumbs up for the Old aeros or laughs for me blowing money to try the new down based inflatable.

I’ve tried a few inflatable pillows and just never found one I liked. My wife has a couple she really enjoys.

For me a stuff sack with a flannel fabric side stuffed with clothes (including a clean pair of ExOfficio underwear) and my puffy jacket work for me.

I like the aeros. I have had a few pillows. Some inflatable, some not. The aeros just seemed to work for me,but not inflated to fully firm. It was never a great pillow mind you,but it was passable and better than trying to sleep on my down coat over a wad/roll of clothing.

I even used my folding foam seat as a pillow for awhile with my down coat on top(I had the foam seat back when I used an inflatable pad,and gave it away as soon as I went to a closed cell pad because the closed cell foam pad is also a great instant seat). It just did not work well.

The biggest thing about the aeros was not even so much comfort, but it is stable and enough of a lift for my neck. It was not terrible for comfort either.

If I could find another travel pillow like my old one(it was a synthetic down). I might try it again. It did compress well, but it developed lumps fairly quickly that could not be worked back out(I am sure compressing it speed that process up. I just left it in my bag then stuffed the bag into a compression sack).

For now though going to get another inflatable.

Plus when you hike for longer than 4-5 days "clean" has a different meaning(especially if everything you own is wet). Sleeping on clothing losses any appeal in a few days for me.

Did someone say slippery bridge? If you zoom in, you can probably see where my foot slipped and I went shin deep into the swampy goo.

I hate to do this, actually I don’t, but I ordered a pair of exoffico pants. Oh man are they nice! Got to wear them out hiking this morning. Hit my personal best mile time of 15.3 with a thirty pound pack, actually I had 3- 15 minute miles. The power is in the boxer briefs and pants. I mean I’ve been under the weather for a couple days, just feeling tired and bah, and still managed that, it’s gotta be the pants :):

Hoofed it about 4.5 miles into the Yellowwood/HNF/BCSP border area yesterday and set up camp. Dumped most of my gear at the tent and continued on a round trip to the old Elkinsville bridge. Took the 10/22 for squirrels but didn't close the deal on any. Saw a herd of wild turkeys and at least six whitetail.

I bought a new production woobie and got it just in time for this trip. What a fantastic piece of gear. Doubled it up with a patrol bag. Probably wouldn't have needed the bag if I wore a base layer and socks.

It was DRY. Salt Creek was the only place I saw water. Campfire went up like it was soaked in gasoline. Really didn't need to saw and split wood, but I wanted the practice.

Planting yourself against a tree and watching a fire burn with absolutely nothing else in the world to do is a nice feeling.

Well ordered my sleeping bag, got the Big Agnes Sidewinder 20, next up is going to have to be a different pack, the one the wife got me is ok but won’t stay adjusted with much weight in it. I’m looking at the Osprey Exos.

    The 58?
I just did notice my main pack is no longer sold(Volt 60l). Not that I need a new one anytime soon.
Let us know how that one works out. I love my volt and Talon. I also have a couple of the packable day packs. They come in handy when in towns or after setting up camp and walking .3 more miles down hill to get water(4l total I carry back easily with the little day packs).

I do not see the packable ones at their store anymore though(might have missed them). Now they have something called "Remnants"? They do not look to be the same material or packable into their own pocket and zipped shut.

Got myself a new hiking partner. I all but had to make him go, but he went, and had a blast! I took him to turkey run, he was amazed, he did over 7 miles, and not hardly a whimper. Heck we even did the 140 steps without stopping, we sounded like a couple old men at the top, but we got up them :lmfao: 216903A3-6FDF-47A3-A942-A5FF4364D965.jpeg 7E272F2C-CAE9-4756-8627-446898D95AF5.jpeg
