well, after getting my shiny object, will I even be welcomed here at least once?
    Welcome

I think you are right in that worry should only be spent on things where actions it engenders might make a difference

Worry more about whether you have prepped enough and less about whether an EMP will shred the grid. One you can adjust your behavior to affect, the other not so much

"Meanwhile, U.S. oil refining capacity fell in 2021 for the second year in a row, the latest government data showed on Tuesday, as plant shutdowns kept whittling away at their ability to produce gasoline and diesel.

The official data showed a capacity decline of 125,790 barrels per day (bpd) last year on top of the 800,000 bpd drop in 2020."

Like I and a few others have pointed out,it is our lack of refining capacity and record exports that are causing prices to rise.
https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&s=mcrexus2&f=m <May data, the new data will be out at the end of the month. But we set records in almost all products to Canada(crude to be refined and exported mostly to Europe),South America in gas and diesel, and of course aviation, diesel, and crude to Europe...all at a time when our refining capacity is down 925,000+ barrels per day(and declining even more rapidly thanks to the EPA ending 36 refineries waivers for blending ethanol into gas, some of which will and are shutting down because of it).

Biden is a moron and his advisors are even more stupid. So he is proposing a 3 month abatement of Federal gas tax. July, August, September. The underlying policies he implemented causing the problem will not be addressed. So come October gas prices will jump back up right before mid-term elections. Talk about an October surprise.

Not to mention that the highway construction and repair usually financed via gas taxes will either be cancelled or postponed, or worse yet funded with more borrowing

Just another subsidy to make us ever more dependent of government largesse

Exactly, some may say not resisting and not worrying about something leads to worse results, but we are given 70-80 years to live and a proper understanding of our capabilities to change something and remove unnecessary energy waste => better life

WTF is wrong with that guy? It’s the gas stations? Why is it that people can’t understand multivariate factors?

What goes into the cost of gas and diesel? I'm not in the industry, but at face value I can see the cost of oil is one thing. The cost of refining it. The cost of transporting it. The cost at the pump has a few pennies per gallon that go to the gas stations. Why drag the gas stations? Are they supposed to just give it away? Or worse, take a loss?

It costs more now to transport fuel because fuel is expensive, and and because of covid, we're short on trucking resources. So that's more expensive. Transportation costs for shipping fuel will come down as the price itself comes down.

It costs to refine it. And the price of refined fuel is mostly in the cost of oil, which has to do with demand and speculation, and all that. But refined fuel has its own demand too. Price being largely dependent on supply/demand is a feature not a bug. Maybe it would help increase the supply if Biden didn't ship our fuel all over the world. But no. He wants gas stations, who arguably have the lowest margins in the chain, to foot the bill for his policy.

In a lighter moment 14 sec gas price video, is elevate interchangeable with alleviate? Also not the alleviate with the long E pronunciation. :D Probably laughed way too much at this...
