I'm from the southern part of the state. I'm looking for advice on unsafe areas to avoid while visiting the dunes. Anybody?

    Indiana Dunes?

The National Lakeshore is Federal. So, all Fed rules apply (no firearms in buildings, for one).

The State Park portion allows lawfully possessed handguns.

To put it in the most general terms: east and south of the Park is fine (Michigan City and Chesterton/Valpo). Don't go much west (Gary). Lots of stuff to do up that way.

If you are talking about the sink hole, mount baldy is off limits this year.

BTW I don't see a Greetings thread for you so,

    :welcome: 2 :ingo: from NWI

I would further the sentiment regarding Warren Dunes. When I was a kid, we went to the IDNL ONCE, every other trip was to Warren. It's worth the extra time.
