Ok so as a competitive shooter, I shoot 120 rounds a week in practice. All hand loaded ammo, I wonder how much practice I do, I wonder how many matches I go to.
Then I wonder should I see off a bunch of my factory loaded ammo, and I think to myself, no cause if I cannot replace it or if SHTF cash is worthless.
Now that being said $250/1k primers? 65 CENTS each projectiles? No way!
I will shoot my air rifle .

I wish I could buy a lot of things at the old prices and back then there was a lot of people trying to break it off in you. Not much has changed, there is just more guns and ammo out there. Taking away guns is not the answer, buying them back isn’t either. I don’t see anyone buying ammo back. There is still a lot of good honest people out there, that was one reason why I wanted to join this community. Help a friend find a good deal and maybe later they might return the favor. Good luck hunting.

So while many were making the choice to spend every dime on trips, toys and beer (just an example, I am not against beer) some people took their own earned money and invested in their hobby. Guns and ammo are an investment and after you get home from the big game and revel in the big win, I still have the ammo I bought. If I am prepared I help close friends and my family has nothing to worry about. It's interesting to see so many trying to make vilians out of those who chose wisely or those beating the Street and buying ammo now. There are no reservations for something in demand. All of you have made investments in material goods, retirement funds, etc. with the intent of it going up in value. Adult up and live with your choices.

Here's one point I'd like to make.

We are at the intersection of two major events- the threat of gun and ammo restictictions, and COVID.

I'm not one to complain about the price that someone attaches to their items. It may amuse me, I may discuss it, I may even make fun of it, but I can choose to meet their price or move on in search of better deals. As a buyer, it's my choice. I'm not forced into a corner for gun or ammunition purchases.

The threat of gun and ammunition restrictions has driven demand to a level where profit-taking is a very real possibility. The COVID situation has produced the possibility, and even the reality, of people losing their job, their business, their home, their health insurance, and their ability to support themselves and their family.

Ask yourself, if you were in a dire financial situation, and you had the opportunity to sell ammunition at a market price, and that income would allow another month's mortgage payment, or another couple weeks of food or medication, is your loyalty going to lie with an online gun forum, or you and your family's health and home?

I can tell you right now, there is a price for everything. I still think the entire thing will depend on how serious Bidens tean/handlers are on online sales. If they push the online ban, i think today's prices will be cheap compared to the future.

EDIT: Well I had a response to this typed out, and apparently it got lost in the ether. Probably for the best anyways.

I've been in this hobby for years and it's funny that grown men cry more about the price people sell their guns and ammo for than anything else.

People complain more about ammo prices than teenagers did about $1,000 PS5's

Edit** to be clear, I think the ammo prices suck. It's fun to talk trash about people asking insane prices, but I'm referring to the people who are down right pissed that they can't buy things in a private sale for the price they feel their entitled to.

I have a good supply of ammo and components..... with what I’d call an excess of some components. Now the way I see it we all had the same chance over let’s say three years to buy up ammo and components..... and not blast away everything we buy in one afternoon. I chose to shoot sensibly and maybe instead of buying a new firearm or scope I bought components. Now I have ammo and components..... the person who did not buy components but bought firearms or ran endless mag drills to impress their buddies have no ammo or no components...... should I feel sorry and sell them 1K primers for $30? Don’t think so......... I’ll be a capitalist over a whiny socialist any day. The fact I made good decisions and you didn’t..... not my problem. Kaching $$$$$

I got 500 LP and 500 SP primers. I’ll trade for a scar or m1 collectors grade. Don’t lowball me I know what I got.

If you have the ammo, at what price point will you consider selling it?
For me, that price don't exist.

If I have an excess of one caliber and a deficit of another... I'll trade with someone who's in an opposite position. For most, whether it's old price to old price, or new price to new price, it's a wash since just about everything is "crazy".

For those guys who are stacked to the ceiling deep and considering selling some at the high market prices for a profit... kudos to them. That's how markets work and they actually ADD to the supply available.

Don't like the prices, don't buy it... that subtracts from the demand.

WOW ! Seriously ! I understand prices have gone up in stores but our own members have taken to a new level . Some asking $1.00 a rd I believe times are tuff on ammo but geezzz .
Not to mention some trade offers. People wanting to trade what they value at panic prices, for what you have, which they value at pre panic prices.
