Sorry, thought that story about his leaving the scene of an accident and driving impaired.

The poor little wilting flower expressed fear at the mere sight of a holstered firearm, and articulated her irrational fear as exactly that.

    Helps their narrative didn't it.
Open carry is the epitome of flashing. Why are the cops allowed to do it?
Listen, I am on your side here folks, just didn't think it was appropriate time and or place and wanted to get others opinions.

OK, I'll try to address a few things.

    First off, DAMNIT JIM!!

    This jumps around a bit:

Second, not sure I could communicate with teenage antis. My youngest is 27, and a gun owner.

Would I have tried? Yes and I'm sure Guy would've too. Would the Generation Whatever teenager who was there because a handful of elected officials/staff will be able to carry firearms is scary, have been triggered by the large bald man or the not as large man with a distinguished grey beard and 2A-related polo? I have no doubt.

Did I want to speak to the guy at Get Go with the sweatpants-Mexican carry and a stendo? Yes. Did I? No.

Should law-abiding Hoosiers be able to carry at the Statehouse? Oh hellz yes! It's embarrassing that Kentuckians can do that and we can't.

I know the big picture behind the SB 14 which affects only the Secretary of State/Atty General/Treasurer. I'm not onboard with "rules for thee, but not for me." Then again, I was good with moving the sticks on the way to ConC.

    That was a bit rambling...

Think maybe we can change your name to KellyinSeymour so that we might get a representative that actually represents us?

    :dunno:

?????? I am sorry if you didn't understand I provided a Fox News story and a relevant question.
both. The fox article, the melodramatic drama queen and the title of this thread. He showed a holstered weapon under his jacket, which taken in context of the conversation was not "flashing".

It doesn't matter what is said or done, it will NEVER help "our side" when it comes to the media. They will always spin it out as evil and use click bait titles for views.

I stand by my statement. Clickbait is clickbait.

    Here is the story: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/in...students-protesting-gun-control-state-capitol

What is the general consensus of this type of behavior? As a carrying gun owner, I think we should be able to carry out discussions of guns and safety and other issues without flashing our concealed gun at those we are talking to. Especially if we are talking to anti gun people.
I watched the video. I don't think he did anything wrong...other than thinking he can reason with unreasonable people but nothing he did was worthy of scorn.

Lucas: The people that want to kill you don't care about your feelings.

    Student: And that's the issue.

I’ve always been a believer in concealed carry. Concealed being the key. Showing it off, unless at a range or with a buddy has always seemed bad practice. Not sure Jim thought this one all the way through.

I was in the Iowa statehouse when we got Capitol Carry pushed through. The R’s got up and said it’s the people’s house and the people’s rights should be honored in the people’s house.

D’s cried about how dangerous it would make the Capitol. No issues to date… Except for when we held floor debate on a gun bill and flooded the gallery with pro-gun folks and one of the fragile Dem legislators cried about the pro-gun people were armed and staring at her, so she felt threatened and they went to recess/caucus for hours to try and get the crowd to go home. We did not go home.

How many cops in the Statehouse flashing their guns as you you walk in? Marshall and bailiffs of the Indiana Supreme Court are armed, openly. State troopers on roving duty, did anyone see a pistol and cry?

Did any snowflakes burst into tears or smoke?

How many stories have we seen where on duty uniformed cops were told to leave *insert restaurant, coffee shop, wherever snowflakes congregate* because guns are scary and cops are scary?

I've had one of your compatriots ask me in a deposition if my gun was exposed in a holster during questioning because that would be intimidating to their client. (It wasn't, I had a sport coat on, ruined his whole spiel. Should watch the video before you ask dumb questions, I guess)

    So...yeah, probably.

It'll be interesting to see if this story gets featured on Hammer and Nigel? Whether they will have The Gun Guy in to discuss?

Sorry, thought that story about his leaving the scene of an accident and driving impaired.
No worries. Was just letting you know of the existing discussion. I didn't report it or anything.

    Helps their narrative didn't it.
    Doubtful.

Listen, I am on your side here folks, just didn't think it was appropriate time and or place and wanted to get others opinions.
I thought Lucas' response was appropriate: "hey, if they want to discuss adult topics, then they can be treated as adults in that discussion." With the implication being that if they're incapable of handling things as adults, then they have no business trying to engage in the first place.

I’m surprised that the woke little whiners didn’t wet their pants when they saw the handgun. Now that would have been very funny indeed. :runaway:
They’re not really afraid. They don’t actually ”feel unsafe”. If they were truly afraid they would have left him standing there. It’s all about leveraging a narrative. We tend to accept their premises and we’ve already lost the argument when we do.

Watched a couple of the short clips. I know Jim, I like Jim, I have been both a supporter and critic of Jim. In this situation I don’t see anything out of the ordinary. The kid asked about carry a gun and he casually shared that he was carrying a gun. But people will talk about Jim because he is Jim.
