The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill on Thursday paving the way for the defense budget to exceed $800 billion next year(does not include the billions for Ukraine),and will our largest military single year budget ever, even if you adjust for inflation we did not spend that much during the peak of any war. To put it another way the military budget for 2023 will be larger than our cumulative national deficit was in 1978,or double what the military budget in 2002 was(posting a link).

Looks like the Kremlin is ordering up more cannon fodder
    The Kremlin likely ordered
What is the reasoning behind saying that? No public decree,no Putin speech or memo, just a blanket Putin made them?

The war is fairly popular in Russia. https://www.levada.ru/en/
In 2016, it(Levada) was labelled a foreign agent
Why? Because it is largely owned by the Swiss. Including Liberal Mission Foundation and Carnegie institute and yes they show nation wide support at over 80% for the war,and for Putin(with Rural areas even higher).
I do not think they are having to force anyone to join. Most Russian's are seeing this as a war for survival against NATO and especially the USA.
If Russia overthrew Mexico do you think the US military would have any problem recruiting soldiers to go and fight there?

I did read that the parliament in Russia is having an "extraordinary meeting" tomorrow. Supposed to be on recess but are coming back for something...

If Russia overthrew Mexico… we would have a 30’ border wall, with machine guns, land mines, and gators in the Rio Grande with freaking lasers attached to their heads, in a month.
That sounds awesome. Anyone got Putin’s number?

I am a isolationist and a realistic person. Nether pro Russian or pro Ukrainian. I am a American so I don’t have a dog in the fight.

IMO any attempt to fight the Russians on their own border is stupid.

The Ukrainians are being portrayed as a freedom loving democratic nation. The current President has banned opposition parties and has repressed the press. It’s also the poorest nation in Europe due to corruption.

Providing weapons to the Ukrainians will just prolong the conflict. With the added danger of the Russians gaining tech knowledge of advanced weapons.

Same. I am a nationalist. I am an isolationist. I am antiwar. I'm not sorry about any of those things and, while I find the conflict deeply interesting, I believe it is absolutely not our business and it happened in large part because of our incessant and arrogant need to meddle.

I guess billions for Ukraine is cheap when we plan to give the Iranians a trillion.

I'm thinking a trillion dollars would buy a lot of energy on the world market from somebody else for this country if he's just looking for places to spend money.

Information I've seen put all costs of a new 1100 Mw nuclear power plant at $6 to 9 billion in 2019 dollars. If the doddering sock puppet would just streamline permitting and use that trillion domestically he could have at least 122 Gw of new generating capacity online with zero increase in CO2 emissions

    Slight snag.
Even more curious was the google search after I hit the back button(to post the second article) the results changed.
    Now the first article is....
