What is it for? Does it keep things from falling off?

Nope. It was to show I was important (well in my mind) and to make sure YOU obeyed the rules. It even had a badge to show authority (yeah, right). It identified me as a prime target for harassment and abuse to keep the bullies occupied while the weenies snuck by.

Just found out from my 6 am Friday Bible Study that a guy doing volunteer work with a group from church received notice that they "were exposed" to someone w/SARS2/COVID.
Everyone had been masked up but to no avail.
He is sitting out the obligatory time & won't be attending Bible Study Friday.

I was talking to a Dr. yesterday & she gave me some opinions & related those of a pharmaceutical rep who is a patient.
Let me just sum up: follow the money.
The J&J vaccine having a few issues of blood clotting in millions was not anything that the other 2 companies have not experienced but did not make the news.
I will not go into detail, but political contributions (public record) & cover ups of issues that happen with any vaccine is a matter of power/money, of course.
These big companies play dirty: imagine that.
And, of course, the media will print/say anything that gives them ratings.

You'll be glad to know, despite my wearing a mask around people for mostly my wife's sake, I do not do so outside in the convertible, on the MC or when I mow grass. :lmfao:

Masks are ineffective, so says CDC, and me. The whole thing had nothing to do with health, it's totally a control issue. How can we control you today and then what can we control you with later.
I'm not staking a position, but how did you come to attribute that to the CDC?

As to the control thing: :tinfoil:

Well, maybe the next control is food rations during a world war... oh, wait...

Juse figured out to an advantage of a mask.
My nose hair doesn't show up.
What is up with that stuff.
I need a hair cut once a month or so.
But nose hair? I swear grows overnight.

It's old man nose hair. It'll be coming out of your ears too. Basically places you don't want it.
I always wondered why old guys started growing nose and ear hair. As I've aged I think I've discovered that it doesn't grow, it just migrates from up north, sort of the way old people migrate to Florida as they age.
