Trading with another INGOer took me to the Indy southside today. Stopped in Martinsville, at the Kroger, on the way back through.

Heaven's to Karen, only about half of many many the shoppers were wearing masks. What a pleasant surprise to see faces again!

I dropped my neck gaitor down around my neck and put the Martinsville Kroger on my preferred shopping list. Road construction be damned, I'll drive through it to shop at an establishment that allows freedom of choice.
Awesome. I'm ready to drive there to get away from the unending mask dystopia of Bloomington Kroger.

It was outrageous in town a few days ago.
Many people daringly showing their noses.
    In public!

I don't wear a mask at home or outside. If a business asks me to wear a mask I do. It's just common courtesy. If I was at a friend's house and they asked me to take off my shoes before walking on their new carpet I would. I wouldn't argue that modern vacuum cleaners can easily clean any soil my shoes leave, or that it's my constitutional right to wear shoes, or say I'm a lion not a sheep so I do what I want.
So if Krogers wants me to wear a mask I do. I'm not the kind of guy that wants to dare people just trying to make a living to confront me about a face mask.

Great, now purple is racist. Thanks jamil. What do you have for an encore? :D

Encores are problematic because they disproportionately favor the dominant culture, which is oppressive to traditionally marginalized groups. That makes encores racist.

    Hoosier card checks out.

In all seriousness, though: this is almost exactly my approach, as well. I can choose to engage with a business or not, and by choosing to engage with a business, I choose to abide by their policies. (Except "no guns" signs in Indiana. If I'm carrying, I ignore those. And even then, if I were spotted and asked to leave, I would also do so.)

I went to a local gun shop yesterday and the sign said masks required so I went back to the truck and put one on. Everybody inside, including all the employees, were wearing masks so I didn't look too stupid. Even the people shooting in the range had masks. Indoor ranges are probably one of the safest places anywhere to go without a mask because of the significant air flow going down range and all the air is hepa filtered, etc., but there they were.
