I doubt that there are any more advanced beings than we are. Everything was created at the same time be it you believe in the big bang or creation.
Everything may have been created simultaneously during the big bang, but the solar system has only been around for about 4.5 billion years vs. 13.8 billion since the big bang. That gives aliens an extra 9+ billion years to evolve compared to earth life. Any of them that succeeded are likely so far advanced compared to us that we might not even recognize them as life.

Definitely a lot better than I anticipated. It’s gotten on the subject of religion, but it’s actually more civil than the religion thread and way more civil than any political thread :) Think ill hang out in here today
There was a time when things religious were verboten in here. Terrible arguments and peoples heads exploding etc. Abortion was even worse. Glad we have not been subjected to that in a good while.

BOR asked Mike (Fenway) if we could once again open the forum up to religious discussions. He was not really wanting to do that. I promised to Moderate it and keep it civil. He accepted under those conditions and man that was far more stressful than the political sub-forum. People loose their freaking minds over this. Many folks were escorted from the playground only to return as a shill and pick right back up where they were booted off.....:faint:
After a while it sunk in and a few of the real zealot's were eliminated and it found a smoother path.
This thread is really rolling along nicely.

I’m curious about this part. What do you mean “we might not even recognize them as life”? Like... a droid or something?
Something like ingomike mentioned. Non-corporeal entities that may not even interact with light in such a way that we can see them. Or take it a step farther - current theory says that the majority of matter in the universe is “dark matter” which only shows itself via gravitational attraction and is something we can’t detect otherwise. Suppose intelligent beings composed of dark matter exist - would we even be aware of them? Could they be existing alongside us without us being able to detect them? Makes you wonder.

When you read Genesis 1:1 it does not say God created everything in 6 days. Says he created the earth and the universe. That was opening sentence. No where in there was anything about 6 days or if he created life elsewhere in the universe. How many years went by before creating things on the earth? The Bible is basically Earth history not the entire universes history.

I think when God rested on the 7th day leads to the belief he created everything in 6 days.

I’m more interested in the theory of extraterrestrial life being so advanced they could possibly not have physical attributes. I think that’s an awesome subject to try to wrap your head around. I doubt it’s reality, but, not an impossible one.

I tend to agree if there is intelligent life they will be similar to us. For all we know they may look and be exactly like us.

Do I think we will meet any? No. We will need to travel distances so great that it would require huge generational ships to do so. They would have to be able to produce their own food water etc for thousands of years generation to generation. Even then we may not even come close to finding intelligent beings. Thus imo a waste of time and tax dollars.

I figure with a potentially never ending universe they could potentially be thousands of light years away from a sun... meaning no plant life (as we know it anyway) would be able to grow. Maybe their life forms don’t depend on food or water the way that ours do. Maybe their systems are able to make use of atoms in the atmosphere? I think the possibilities are pretty endless of what “could be” out there, and how they are able to travel between solar systems.

Maybe “time” is only an earthly/human concept.

Like I said, I think the possibilities are endless. I hope eventually we get answers, because there’s so many things we still don’t know or understand it would be nice to someday somehow have an explanation
