There would have to be some mechanism in place for those like our latest shooter that have been here for years, but never saw the need to participate until something shiny appeared in the classifieds. I think it would be better all around to just make the Classifieds a site supporter perk, but only after x month(s) of membership.

IMHO we already have too many Craig's List like "traders" that have bought their way into the classifieds with the site supporter investment. It only takes a few sales to make up that money, then they are back to no-skin-in-the-game status. No general forums post history to verify who you might be dealing with. :twocents:

Noble effort, but their numbers are rising as opposed to falling. With the numbers of members following this forum, there are hundreds of buyers for every stated "deal passer."

I have been trying to read and reply in an honest fashion. You are a dick !

Well, your one multiple one line reply's in quick fashion to seem to beg the differ. If you just got a time out we can talk about it when you come back, if you are civil. If it was permanent, well you burned that bridge here. I can't help you with that part.

Sorry to hear to took took things personal and did not take the time to learn the forum and gain from the benefits of the forum. It's your loss not ours.

I think you are the first enemy I have made on forum in going on 5 years. It's a sad day for 1911ly.

I am, as you can see, a newbee to this site or any forum site as far as that goes. I like wondering around through the site and seeing different conversations. This isn't the easiest site to use though. I don't understand why I can't reply to someone if they see that I am new and they PM me. I have the hardest time finding my own posts! I am sure some of my questions have probably been answered, but I don't know if they have or not! I'm not sure if I will ever know if you answer me!

At the top right of the page, you will find "User CP" That stands for User Control Panel. Click on that when you come back onto the forum and any threads you have posted in that have replies will show up. Click on the little brown box in front of the thread title with the three down arrows and it will take you to the first post since you were last in that thread.

Welcome to INGO. As you have discovered, it is a very busy forum and rather fast paced. It is impossible to read everything posted here, but that will help you respond to threads you have been in before. If you no longer want to read that thread or be notified of additional posts there, when in that thread, click on "thread tools" (arrow behind that phrase) at the top right of the thread, and select unsubscribe and save the changes you make.

The no PM until you have 50 posts is part of the enforcement of the classified rules. Without it the rule would not be enforceable.

INGO is a fairly large forum with many sub categories. It can take time to get to know how they all work and what they consist of. Hang in there and keep looking around, it will start to make sense.

The UserCP in the top right of the page will help you locate things you have posted and general settings. There is also a spot on each thread called "View your threads or posts" It is in the line of links at the right under "What's new" right under the main INGO logo.

What other questions do you have? We will try and help you out.

    ETA: Scooped again.

I'm afraid to put my perspective into words here for fear of being called out. I joined INGO in Jan of 2012. I read all of the introductions and new member forums. I realized quickly that this was a place with a vast amount of information, opinions, and knowledge. I respect those of you who have thousands of posts and i knew that I was going to learn a lot from you. The problem I faced and still face 4 1/2 years later... is that I have come here to learn not teach. There is very little I could add to the wealth of knowledge and experience of the experts here. I knew better than to post 50 things in the first month of membership. I respect the spirit of the forums and the frustration that the contributors have with knew members that don't. I wish I had more to contribute. I normally only log on when I want to research something I want buy. The point of this long winded post is that I doubt any of the 50 posts i have made in the last four years have helped anyone. However, as someone who has tried to respect the "rules of the game" ... I would like to hope that I would receive similar respect even as a "newbie" contributor. I hope this doesn't ruffle any feathers as that is not my goal. I just wanted to point out that not everyone with less than 50 posts is failing to respect the spirit of the site.

    Well said. Respect here.

The real issue comes from a newbie that rips through the forum with a string of idiotic posts to obviously hit the magic 50 and then off to the classifieds to flip some guns.
As you have so well stated this place is about so much more than that.
Carpetbaggers are not among my favorite people. The only upside is that they give members a broader choice when looking for something to add into the safe. Beyond that I have no regard for them. No hate either just do not consider them active viable members. JMHO of course.
I do feel better towards the few who pony up as site supporters so as not to ride the train for free. Again, JMHO

Lol, we shall see.... because when runners hit 50, they typically head straight for the classified.

    ...exactly like you did.

With 51 posts in 4 years, I doubt that anyone would call you a runner. Thank you for being a site supporter as well.

For me, it hasn't been all about learning although I have learned a lot on here. It has been mostly about developing friendships and sharing ideas/experiences with people who think a lot like I do or can respectfully challenge my way of thinking when they disagree. They also don't think I'm nuts for carrying a gun everywhere I go or think I'm even crazier when I end up wanting to buy more guns and ammo just because. :):
