the fact remains, people are being SOLD that the vaccine will prevent the transmission of the virus.
    I disagree with that.

Over the last four months, talking points have REPEATEDLY been "we don't know if vaccinated people can be infected with or spread COVID, which is why you still should social distance and wear masks after being vaccinated." Another popular talking point was "vaccination will make infections much more mild".

In fact, the CDC has significantly downplayed their own recent study that showed two weeks after first mRNA dose people are 80% protected from SARS-CoV-2 infection (and you can't spread what you aren't infected with) and two weeks after second mRNA dose people are 90% protected from SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Of course, 80-90% protection from infection is not 100% infection...which is now the latest talking point in the media, "Vaccination doesn't provide complete protection from infection with COVID." As if, in most situations, any vaccination offers "complete protection".

I know people who have tested positive on a PCR test with high cycle threshold (>35) fully two months after previous infection, due to **dead virus** in their nasopharynx.

Question for those who either are or know medical workers with boots on the ground in hospitals:
has there been an uptick in admissions b/c of Covid where you work?

I had to take my wife to the Heart Hospital at the Community North campus this past week & was talking with her heart specialist.
He had Covid for 2 weeks Jan 2020.
Last week he said he had to send a nurse home b/c of feeling poorly b/c of Covid.
He also stated this is not the time for unmasking if around others who are in contact with the "public."

I posted a couple of weeks ago :coffee: that my
41 yr. old daughter & husband contracted Covid after going to a family gathering (in Nashville, TN),
where nearly everyone was infected with Covid with 2 people being hospitalized.
Her husband's younger brother & wife were visiting from Kokomo, IN & brought the "gift" with them.

My daughter & husband are 100% now.
Nearly all gathered were 60+ except for my daughter & husband, along with the younger brother & wife from Kokomo.
Don't know about those hospitalized or other family members recovery, but no news is good news.

We plan to visit her in May, but will skip the extended family gathering. :dunno:

The same people/institutions that I believed for Flu, Pneumonia, Smallpox, DPT, etc for myself and MMR, etc for my children. Add to that, I retired from J&J so I have some understanding of their corporate ethics on development and manufacture of medicine.
So why do those that believe the government, pharmaceutical companies, media reports, whatnot, seem offended to be called believers?

I suspect that the vaccine can cause adverse reactions. I suspect that the vaccine won't work in everyone. I suspect that TPTB may pad numbers, because they often do when doing so will be of some benefit to them or their cause. I suspect that the vaccine is at least somewhat effective. I suspect that TPTB will not be as eager to rigorously investigate deaths possibly caused by these vaccines, at least not transparently. Wouldn't want to risk a panic.

The only thing I'm very confident in is that it's efficacy is somewhere between zero and the reported efficacy, but I am reasonably hopeful that it's much closer to the reported efficacy. I'm fairly confident that there are not as many short term problems as some people fear. I mean with a hundred million people or whatever with shots in their arms, we're not seeing a hundred million deaths.

Eventually, if you believe the worst, the worst actually needs to show up big enough to match the fears. Otherwise it's just another grassy knoll that people keep talking about.

But long term? I don't think experts know a lot about that.
I cannot disagree with much of anything in this post.

Bottom line for me; the virus is not the boogieman we were told it would be, told it was, and told it is. Therefore most do not need a vaccine and its unknown risks.

Because of guys who use the term in a trolling pejorative manner and try to use it thus to justify their belief in the latest tin-foil conspiracy anti-vacc meme-of-the-day.

Annnnnnnnnd we have a winner. 99% of the masks being worn will not do diddly to stop you from getting infected. Even a properly fitted N95 mask is 5% ineffective.

I love explaining this to the mask nazi's screaming at the top of thier lungs wearing the wrong, improperly fitted masks.

Please post all the anti-vaccine posts I have made. I have been very consistent, TPTB have squandered the trust they once had from me, I just don't believe them, and I will use uncommon sense to make my decisions as we progress.

It is simple, I am, at the present time not a believer in what the central government is doing, you apparently are, but don't like being told you believe them. If the unvaccinated start dying like flies in a late fall window I'll be trying to get in line...

When I was a Biomed tech, in order to enter a room with airborne pathogens we had to wear a PROPERLY FITTED N95 mask. Fitted that is in a vapor chamber. If you had any facial hair it was a show stopper for it. That why I always kept it lol.
So today to have dr.'s and politicians preaching wearing a loose sock on my face is preventing china virus, total ignorance and worse yet, LIES.

It would appear to me that Fauci, CDC along with the WHO are the ones who are wearing tin-foil hats. Most EVERYTHING that is spewed out of their little mouths are later rescinded, changed, manipulated or found wrong. Knowing this, we are to trust an unknown drug that was rushed to be put together that has no background data and is ONLY experimental at this time.

That is no anti-vacc meme or statement........dat'safact!

Yes, we needed to be fit tested for proper size and brand of N95 masks yearly. Facial hair was a showstopper. Without passing the test, you were not allowed to go into any airborne precaution room including negative pressure rooms.

Like wearing a diaper in the pool and thinking it is ok to pee......the diaper will stop it.

If it was .5 then there would have been a whole different subset of masks that would have been extremely hard to breathe through.

Hence the name N95 or K95.

"Both N95 masks and KN95 masks are made from multiple layers of synthetic material (typically a polypropylene plastic polymer) and are designed to be worn over the mouth and nose. Straps behind your ear help to hold the mask in place. Both masks must filter out and capture 95 percent of tiny 0.3 micron particles in the air (hence the “95” in the names)."

Now if anyone is unwilling to verify this own there own, then they are just as likely to believe a simple cloth mask is going to do the job.

But even with a n95 mask, the vast majority wear them wrong, by wearing them too high or low and not properly fit. They might as well thrown a plastic garbage bag over their head or wear that stupid arse face shield that does diddly squat :poop: to prevent breathing suspended particles in the air..

I've had a n95 style dual cartridge filter respirator mask for eons because I didn't feel like breathing in drywall dust or fine sawdust from sanding wood & doing work at my old home that I did extensive remodeling to. It sucked to breath through, but it was not something I was going to break out and wear around because of Covid.

Misunderstanding on my part, ignore it. Was thinking about that CDC study difference between masking and not.
