Something I learned somewhere around 1975 from a 1911 blacksmith and target shooter, the lead bullet target load shoots best that engraves on the rifling when it goes into battery.
Just like a .22RF target rifle.

I see some of Allens signature work there.

I have only one RO left in my safe from several I have owned. This was one of Allen and I's 1st serous projects and it has been an ongoing labor of insanity ever since. Not much left we can carve off of this one.

You sir are one of the biggest reasons I turned to Allen after your posting and talking about him and showing the 1911 porn.
I have been thinking of having Allen build me a Commander. Yep I have went into the rabbit hole.
    But thank you.

Yeah this thread isn't gonna help my savings account any...

I think I need a high end 1911 now. I do own a Colt, but I'm thinking I need to try something more prestigious now.

Glock 30s are among the one’s I bailed on. I really tried to love them. But, in the end they both were sold because I didn’t want to shoot a gun that put a sizeable percentage of brass into my face. I really wanted to like them and when the first had major BTF issues, I bought a second to prove that it was not the gun design, but an anomaly with the one I had. Sadly, it’s the design.

They’d do fine if I loaded hot rounds but I don’t want to keep special loads just because a marginal design does not work with common ammo as it should . I put serious money into trying to figure the issues out while buying quality leather because of the promise they held.

In the end, they went to new homes where I hope they serve the new owner better than they served me.

I’ve never had that problem with mine. Weird.

In the interest of clarity because I don't want to leave anything to interpretation....

Have you taken it out of the box after buying it?
If so, how many rounds (roughly because i admit I am not a round counter either), how many rounds do you send down the pipe a day? Week? Month? Year? Lifetime of ownership?

Do you clean your firearm after every use? Monthly? Annually?

The answers to these questions will help us all in making a better assessment of your statement.

If I am getting brass in my face it's typically either my grip is off or it's coming from a shooter to my left.

But I don't shoot plastic guns....

Other than a couple if SAs and Berettas....

Sometimes my mind wanders in to what ifs...I thought to myself what if you could go back to 1875 and hand Wild Bill Hicock 2 pistols. 1 a glock 19 and 1 a Colt 1911...In .45 of course.
Which one would he choose? Would he take the plastic one with half a box of bullets. Or would he take the shiny steel and walnut one with 9 bullets????
    I wonder
Not to disparage either. Just a thought.
