Finished Legacy of Ashes. He did not have much good to say about the CIA and its effectiveness at all.

I am now plowing through Tony Blair's new memoirs A Journey: My Political Life I never realized how much of a socialist he and his Dad for that matter are/were. As always, though, one can pick out agreeable matters. For instance, the details on the "Good Friday"/Belfast agreement in Ireland (remember Bill and Hillary claimed a lot of credit for this) is very interesting and has made it worth it. I spend a lot of time chatting online with Northern Ireland-ers, and this book adds to my understanding of their odd/jaundiced perceptions. He declares NI to be a place where it's nearly impossible to change the deep bigotry and divisions. On that point I will agree.

Just finished "The forest of hands and teeth" by Carrie Ryan.
excellent read! Its is not your typical zombie horror book...this story takes place generations after "the coming" and is more about the struggle of a post apocalyptic civilization where the threat of zombies is just part of daily life. the story revolves around a young girl who has the mind set of "the grass is always greener on the other side".

    1632 by Eric Flint

Its the first book in a fun little series of alternate history/science fiction novels. The basic premise is a small American town around the year 2000 is accidentally transported back in time to Germany in the year 1632, right as the 30 years war was heating up after a brief lull. The American revolution begins a bit early as the townsfolk arm up and plow into the armies of Tilly and Wallenstein using modern weapons and vehicles. It's not going to win any Nobel Prizes for literature but so far its a fun read.
