I know a kid that wore a half face respirator to school as a joke recently. He was forced to remove it and put on a surgical mask. Joke or not he was forced to remove the mask that would actually protect him.
That sounds like being worthy of the parents meeting with the principle.I know a kid that wore a half face respirator to school as a joke recently. He was forced to remove it and put on a surgical mask. Joke or not he was forced to remove the mask that would actually protect him.

Respirators have a one way valve so they protect the wearer but not others (like surgical masks do).
I know some hospitals, and airlines, banned masks with a valve (like some N95 masks, or half face respirators) for that reason.
Unless you also wore a surgical mask on top of the N95 to filter the air coming out the valve.
Negative on that being the reason. Lots of kids and teachers are wearing cloth masks with built in valves that are still wearing them. It was removed because they said it’s a distraction.Respirators have a one way valve so they protect the wearer but not others (like surgical masks do).

I’m gonna second the “that is idiotic” but from a totally different angle.Respirators have a one way valve so they protect the wearer but not others (like surgical masks do).

Not all respirator masks have the one-way valve, in fact the vast majority of the respirator masks in use here do not have any valves. This includes the most popular masks from 3M, the 1860, 1860S, 1870, 1804 and 1804S.Respirators have a one way valve so they protect the wearer but not others (like surgical masks do).

My moldex 7000 and similar and whatever Menards was selling that has 2 cartridges have a valve. I thought most anything that had two replaceable filters would have a valve. Not all respirator masks have the one-way valve, in fact the vast majority of the respirator masks in use here do not have any valves. Yes, most of the canister masks have valves but many, many more of the simpler respirator masks are produced and sold than the canister type. 3M makes over 95 Million N95 masks per month such as this 3M 8200 N95 Respirator mask. They have a foam seal that fits to the face and when you inhale you can feel the respirator tighten the seal to your face.My moldex 7000 and similar and whatever Menards was selling that has 2 cartridges have a valve.
