Got out of work early today so went to the LGS and fondled a few Sigs. The didn't have what I wanted in but I was able to make some comparisons that I wanted to check out. Namely AXG grips vs. TXG. The TXG was a Carry Legion and the AXG was a AXG Classic. As I thought I preferred the feel of the AXG but the weight of the TXG. I did like a ZEV 320 Octane they had there but would switch the grip frame out to, well either an AXG or a TXG.

SIG guys… looking for some advice…

I’ve long wanted another P229 however they seem to have gone the way of the dinosaurs. What’s everyone’s opinion on the P320 AXG Classic vs the P229 Legion? Gun will likely be a safe queen as I have a P365 and various other polymer guns for the daily beating that a carry gun will take. I’d like to stay below $1500 here. The RMR option is a possibility with the AXG but not a main selling point.

Well, imho there’s a whole world of difference between the two
The axg classic is an aluminum frame striker fired gun and the trigger pull is amazing
The 320 rxp is a hammer fired double/single action with a great double action and a even better single action pull!
Now you’ll never get a da/sa trigger to be as nice as a single action striker fired gun, that first trigger pull (da) will make a huge difference in the trigger!
Now a 229 legion rxp sao…that’s a good comparison to the axg classic and imho that’s a coin toss! And I can’t help you there, but I own a axg classic and a 226 legion, and if I had the choice I’d swap that 226 for a 229 rxp sao in a heartbeat!!!

Are you looking for a carry sized gun like the P229 size or are you open to the P226? A .40 P226 is a really versatile gun. You can run one as a .40, .357 Sig or 9mm with only a barrel change and recoil spring for the 9mm.

I’ve always liked the 4” size a little more. Not sure why, but the full-size pistols never seem to leave the safe even to make it to the range.
