I would say that in summarily dismissing the notion those two are demonstrating that they must be braindead, especially given both the actions and claims made by this administration. I don't see any huge change in direction, but at least Senator Paul forced Obama to respond to the issue, which is more than anyone else has accomplished. As for McStupid and Graham arguing that it isn't a realistic possibility and that being asked such a question is beneath the dignity of the president, they both need to quit drinking or smoking whatever it is that they are on.

When I read the bit about dorm room libertarians I thought of dross's old comment about bong water. He was ahead on that wise crack.

I think it had positive effect. It raised an issue into the public debate. Got people thinking about the implications of this whole Unending Global War on Terror thing. Inspired people. Got Rand new supporters and shows him to be a leader.

The old guard is being told that there are new guys in town. And that they are not the big cheese anymore. The old guard had a good life, but that is coming to end. Graham and McCain are one election from being retired per Dana Loesch.

It was Rand Paul, Cruz and Rubio who did this. And it was off the cuff, they did not plan to do it.

Rubio is the one that this group is pushing for president in 2016. He stands the best chance.

    :+1:

You can do that (i.e., filibuster without a script) when you actually stand for something other than self-promotion. They did well in making the Kenyan respond, in bringing a lot of oblivious people to the point of paying attention, and in demonstrating that they do in fact stand for something of national value. It seems to me that they won all the way around!

    The Old Guard Must Go

I respect John M. for his service however he like many others have turned into lifers. In reality have the lifers (on both sides) really done a good job for "the people". The ones they are there for or should be there for. Who dined with Barry ? Please look at this could it be the ones that he can cut a better deal with ? Hmmmmm seems funny to me the only times Barry has anything to do with the right is when things start slipping out of his CONTROL. Why close door meetings with John B. ? Why did john M. get sacrificed when he stumped for Fearless Leader. He had to be sacrificed because he wasn't going to win anyway. As each freedom is trimmed it gets smaller it doesn't bigger. We have false flags fellas I Stand With Rand. Ok now I get Chastised.

The "Terrorism kool-aid" in Washington is out of control like the national debt. Guns made for war need to be off the streets but drones made for war are OK? Classic divide and conquer.

McCain is clarifying that the GOP is still over-run with freedom hating neocons like himself. The Pauls, Cruz, and Amash are the black sheep of the party. The Establishment will fight to suppress them by any means necessary.

Angry McCain ups ante, calls Paul, Cruz 'wacko birds'
"It's always the wacko birds on right and left that get the media megaphone," McCain told Huffington Post's Jon Ward in a story titled "John McCain: Getting Back To Maverick, With An Eye On Retirement."

He added, "I think it can be harmful if there is a belief among the American people that those people are reflective of the views of the majority of Republicans. They're not." Ward wrote:

"I asked McCain to clarify who, specifically, he was talking about."

McCain said, "Rand Paul, Cruz, Amash, whoever."

No, it didn't. It was a blip on the news.

I'm not criticizing Rand's efforts. I just don't think it had an effect worth the effort.

Didn't we just "have" to vote for McCain in 08?

    I didn't. I had to vote for Romney in 2012 though. :D

You do have to wonder though, would we have had Obamacare, stimulus, et al, if McCain had been elected.

As much as I dislike McCain, it's hard to believe we wouldn't have at least a little bit more of our freedom if he had beaten Obama in 2008.

It is often said: that which does not kill you, makes you stronger (or something like that)...It may well turn out that having BHO elected and re-elected will turn out to be the medicine this country needed (if he doesn't "kill" us). I like what I'm seeing, for the most part, in the Rand's, Lee's, Amash's, Cruz's, etc. Today I am a little more hopefull that the constitutional brush fire that is the Obama administration/philosophy will burn out in a few years. And the guys like those I just mentioned, will inspire more to follow and drive out the McCains, Boehner's, and Graham's.

One problem: What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, presuming that you have an opportunity to recover. I doubt that the nation will have any such luxury, therefore it will be just one more hard hit contributing to the cumulative damage to which the nation will eventually succumb, probably sooner rather than later.
