    I have always tried to give my cart to somebody on their way in - doesn't matter if I rented it or found it.

    If there is nobody around or nobody that wants it, I take it into the store, lock it up and get the quarter - doesn't matter if I rented it or found it.

    I have never considered this a moral issue before - interesting.
    The law of unintended consequences still applies, though. At the LAXative, it used to be 4 quarters to get one of those luggage carts, and people still left them wherever they got done with them

    The unintended consequence was the area became a magnet for homeless people wanting to take the cart back for the buck. Definite rise in the creeper population density
