I’m looking for tall ornamental grass, maybe like feather reed, or similar that is tolerant to wet semi clay dirt. I have a swale in the back yard that won’t grow regular grass because of the spring/ fall rains.

Part 2: where to find reasonably priced in within 10-20 miles of Greenwood

This is what I looked like driving home after the neighbor offered us some grass they were removing. The loader bucket on the tractor was just as full as this truck...poor old Rusty...she was loaded down that day. I drove about 2 miles like that. People were laughing as we passed by...

Phragmites/elephant grass is an invasive exotic and should be avoided - same with most ornamental grasses.
Check scientific names - common names/trade names are crap.

    Native alternatives might suit better:
    Turkeyfoot grass/big bluestem
    Indian grass
    For real wet areas:
    Scirpus rushes/woolgrass
Cattail (advantage is they are edible)

Indiana Native Plant Society will have good recommendations.

I imagine a cattail would taste like eating a roll of paper towels.

    But good info, thank you!
