Taiwan president visits this week. Same old crap feed to the news that politicians want us to hear. Fox showed a clip of a reporter asking a Taiwanese why they don't trust the USA.. "USA only cares about themselves"
When it cones to Taiwanto, i totally believe that statement. Our government is only worried about those computer chips. From my understanding, Taiwan is not a country, but only the name of an island and supposed to be part of Chinas land masses. If this is the case, tgen China really doesn't need to invade, but rather send in people to reasstablish authority.

Taiwan has never been part of communist China. Chiang Kai-shek and the Republic of China forces, the other side of the fight against Mao and the Chinese Communist Party, retreated there and held the island after the CCP conquered the mainland. It has never been controlled or occupied by the CCP

Giant **** show about to go down. Only way Taiwan wins is attack first and involve us due to our interest in computer chips. And we need nukes on all our subs again to make that work.

Macron is repeating the China mantra that the U.S. is the bad guy in the region. They said the same thing about the U.K. until they took over Hong Kong. Macron, like Justin Trudeau is a socialist fool.

I am getting the impression that China is feeling froggy and may attack Taiwan after the typhoon season ends in September. Xi and his cronies see a chance to strike before their economy takes a dump.

China helped us in WWII to fight the Japanese. After the war they had a civil war… communist vs patriots. The Communist won and the patriots fled to Taiwan. The communist didn’t pursue and left them alone. It could be suicide for China to invade now, they gain nothing and stand to lose more than they know. But the leader has killed everyone that doesn’t think like he does. No one is telling him the truth or they die. So if he thinks it’s good to take Taiwan they all tell him it’s a good idea. All it takes is a good president to say we will no longer send food to China and in a couple years half their population will starve to death. We wouldn’t need to fire a shot. Nobody is telling XI that. Biden sure isn’t. China gains Taiwan but loses in the end. There’s just nobody left in China to tell XI that.

I feel like this is only seeing one side of the equation, though. Doesn't all of our farming and food processing infrastructure rely heavily on machinery and electrical parts manufactured in China? I think we'd be in a spot of trouble, too, if there were a complete trade embargo. And I somehow feel like China's transition into a more agriculture-focused industry might be an easier ask than the heavy shift into manufacturing computer chips and other electronics that we'd have to make.

Yes, if they invade today it's a loosing proposition but Xi told his military to be ready to invade by 2027. It is a patient country and one that is extremely good at large public projects.

Preparations are ongoing and they're not limited to the military. They have dozens of nations indebted to them through the Belt and Road program, they're stretching their diplomatic success to the middle east (and beyond) and they're moving their economy to a focus on domestic consumption vs. export. They are by far the biggest foreign influence in Africa (where rare earth metals and minerals are abundant). They have the edge already in many areas already and quickly catching us in others.

    I feel like it's 1936 and I'm Germany's neighbor.

All depends how serious we are. And the rest of the world joining in would cripple them also. Add to that their sudden shrinking of population over the next 10 years, they are getting in same boat as Russia. We can survive and live without China. You can’t eat computer chips.
