Never camped. But our cabin in Wisconsin was wilderness as ****. We all got the poison ivy, skunked, severe burns from the exhaust on the mini bike, hit in the face with the tire swing coming around the corner of the house too fast, drank cans of pop that sat out all day and were full of bees, we even ate peanut butter and had down feather pillows.
Jumped off the bridge into the Namekagon river, bottomed out on rocks.

Sounds like glamping to me. These kids have nothing to worry about, it's all been padded down for them.

I'm sure wifi is good too
About the only glamping was access to bathrooms. The wifi is good, but devices were not allowed (plus they are 7) except for the movie projected at the end of the night to wind them down. They had to pop their own popcorn over the fire then too. Most had never camped before, so the less hassle and positive experience the better.

Start them off easy cooking, then work their way up.
Everyone should know how to cook

Hot dog, smore, & popcorn over the fire.
One kid asked me to open a chip bag for him (clearly didn't try probably because his parents do everything for him). I said I'd show him, but he'd have to try for himself. At least during an apocalypse, he can now survive in the chip aisle.

That vet ride is a ****show every year, I know of three accidents during the ride this year, might have been more, idk. The police escort seems to be town by town, like highland will, minster will, dyer doesn’t then scherrerville does, Merrillville doesn’t etc. it’s a disaster. And a ride that raises 100k annually very little of the $$$ actually goes to help any veterans, the majority is spent keeping the display abd eternal flame in wicker park “upgraded and maintained”

At the campout, even got to see raccoon, coyote, and deer prints. Scouts thought that was cool. They'll earn a badge later for identification, but they will have a reference now. Lot of 1st time things and successes. Very little whining and complaining because if you were here it was for fun, comradery, and learning. 2:1 Scout/parent ratio was appreciated too.

Most of my work was communicating, setup/tear down, and building a fire. Amazing how every time a fire needs started or the grill gets fired up...there I am. My superpower is to attract smoke. Threw my hoodie on this morning to get coffee in the house...whoof, smokey. No, I'm not starting a pot over a fire when the Keurig is 30 yards away. We camped behind my home, so I have benefits.
