    Having lived on the border with Mexico for many years, I think most mid-west Mexican restaurants aren't that great. There are exceptions. What well-off people in the central parts of Mexico eat is nothing like the poor eat on the border. You'd likely be surprised to know that there were always a lot of cars with Mexican tags that went to Mickey D's and Churches fried chicken on the US side. Before COVID, we went to El Maguey Mexican Restaurant in Salem and we thought it was good. Mexican restaurants in the US are notorious for human trafficking and money laundering for the cartels. https://kicks96.com/local-news/424204
