They should be teaching kids how to think, not what to think.
I would say they are teaching them how to think. Call it group think, herd think, or whatever think there is. Socialism, communism, marxism, maoism, antisemitism, this is how they have been programmed to think. Maybe what they are missing is how to reason.

No. In their own literature they say the goal is to teach them what to think, to make activists. That's the goal of all the "critical" theories. To destroy "normal". To make left wing activists, and to bring about the revolution that will flip the power structures and create new institutions of their own making.

    .
What I've never understood about these people is that they should be smart enough to see that their philosophy always ends in the horrors of 1984. Bigger, smaller, sometimes faster, sometimes slower, but always the same place, enforcement by leadership at the point of a gun. Sadly what they don't learn from history is that when they get to than point they have abdicated control to the man with the gun and their future is now totally dependent on him.

Having been force fed this stuff by phds at IU during the 70s, I pictured them years later crying in their collective beers at Nick's when the wall came down and their socialist mother ship cratered. What they must have thought when the core of their lives was just a fraud.

Humility isn't their strong suit. They believe they're smarter than all who have come before them and most with whom they're forced to rub shoulders.

At the root of it all, in a socialist structure the intellectuals hold a significantly higher social & financial status than they do in a capitalist society. It drives them insane that some uneducated deplorables can achieve tremendous success simply through hard work and/or natural talent, regularly surpassing their own. A socialist system eliminates that constant reminder that they aren't what they believe themselves to be.

You have a really good point that I have never thought of. I always figured that they were simply too emotional and since you can't rationalize feelings. Their foundation is started there and worked up to stupid and unreasonable desires we are seeing today.
