This story caps a building narrative nightmare for the anti-gunners.

First there was Uvalde. Cops standing around with their thumbs up their butts for an hour while kids and teachers are being shot and bleeding out. Took a Border Patrol tactical team who showed up and said eff this we're going in.

Now, days after Constitutional Carry takes effect in Indiana, a 22 year old man with no formal training and no license to carry takes 15 seconds at 30 yards to put 8 out of 10 shots into a potential mass-killer and stops him.

He is everything they tell us to fear, an untrained, unlicensed young man with a pistol. His grandfather taught him to shoot and handle a handgun. I trained extensively with law enforcement officers and I guarantee you very few of them can put 8 out of ten on a silhouette at 30 yards in 15 seconds.

Takeaway: The police will not save you. But an armed citizen WILL save you. And YOU can be that armed citizen.

The Brady Bunch are crying. Every time they open their pie-holes now they're going to be destroyed.
Except he was licensed, notwithstanding the fact that the license was not necessary after 7/1

I think what the police actually said.. at least when I heard them... Was that they had been unable to locate a permit

Contrary to what the state goofball predicted, Constitutional Carry made the police job EASIER because they don't need to know whether Eli has a permit or not.

I think the press and even the police floating the idea that CC was a win here has worked for us. It has gotten the word out nationally.

Right or wrong on the message, this was a favorable outcome, compared to what it could have been. Even if incorrect, the press highlighting CC where this good guy killed the bad guy attempting mass murder is positive.

Yup. I hope he spent his last seconds wondering what TF was going wrong.

If Eli was behind cover - supported it makes the first shot a touch easier especially if the shooter was looking a different direction. Gives Eli a second to aim / squeeze in a little bit of controlled fashion.

“I like to think the last thing that went through his head, other than that bullet, was how the hell that Eli got the best of him.”

Recently lost job, allegedly received eviction notice recently. Given his background, probably didn't have much family to turn to, so was probably isolated. Probably like too many YUTS today, addicted to games, social media, and self isolating.

They could uncover some deep dark secret that caused him to crack, but absent more information, "suicide by cop" is what I'm assuming the motive was. That's the end game of most of these mass shooters, go out in a blaze of "glory."
Yep. They know that the media will make them famous if they go out in a blaze of glory while attempting a mass murder instead of going un-notice if they just committed suicide alone in a quiet setting.

Based on the photos of him that he posted with a gun to his head just before he went to the mall - and that he had the pistol on his body - I bet his plan was to shoot to the place - then take his own life with the pistol as soon as he saw/heard the cops arrive. Eli took that away from him.

I agree with this. A lot of others will contribute to it though. It's already generated over 12k in donations.
I’d gladly give the Hero the shirt off my back, all the cash in my pocket, buy rounds of beer, buy ammo, pay a months rent all those and then some, but I’m not donating to GFM.

Plus I suspect this guys gonna be juuust fine.

I've seen several articles saying that Gomez was armed. One where police said something to the effect that they found him armed, implying he was not OC'ing. So speculation that he was shot _because_ he was armed was incorrect. All depictions I've read was that he was the first person the shooter encountered.

Exactly. He would have been shot regardless of whether he was carrying or not. The fact that he was the first person that dirtbag saw when he came out of the bathroom prepping himself for a killing spree is why he was shot. No other reason.

And even though Relford took the case Pro Bono, I wouldnt have any issue with the guy pocketing the money designated "for legal fees". He deserves every damn penny.

Besides, he may need it for his shrink. I know I would.

And to be clear there is nothing negative or derogatory about that last line. A normal person will need some help unpacking that day and what he had to do. Nothing wrong with that.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't carry as it absolutely increases your odds of survival.
Like most things in life, you are only affecting the odds.
Though many people don't seem to understand that.
    (not talking about most INGOers)

I've had guys at work argue that their steel toe made it MORE dangerous, because it could amputate their toes.
Never mind the fact that that amount of pressure would ALREADY have amputated them, or the fact that it protected them from lesser pressures.
    Ugh.

I’ve heard them say it. Something to the effect of - walking into a the mall with 2 rifles, a handgun and 100 rounds is perfectly legal and the only thing he did that was illegal was point/shoot.

    Well... yes.

Tell people, they drive around in a 2 ton killer all day. And if they intentionally run over and kill someone, the only thing illegal would be INTENTIONALLY RUNNING OVER AND KILLING THEM.

    :)
