True story...
I worked on a farm out west for quite a few years. Would get wranglers, wear them out, then sell them on eBay for more than I bought them for.

I watch "American Pickers" and I've seen them buy old jeans and workwear from like the early 1900's and get them appraised at crazy prices. No matter that they were tattered and torn and in horrible condition. They'd still command close to 4 digit dollar figures.

As a kid, we weren't poor, but definitely hurting for money.
Yet, my mom would get those iron on patches for wore spots that young boys always seem to cause in pants.

Yet now, people with money will spend it on ripped jeans.



Of course manufacturers are going to sell them, people buy them.
