I get recorded by people every time I turn around. It doesn't bother me, my demeanor doesn't change. I think they others don't realize that police record more than they do. Whenever you see a police chase on TV, where do you think it comes from. There are thousands of hours of recorded time prior to that 5 minute chase. All caught on camera.

I just found an android app for my phone that I will use in a LEO encounter. It's called UStream and I got it from the android market for free.

Just download the app, create an account on the app (or website USTREAM, You're On. Free LIVE VIDEO Streaming, Online Broadcasts. Create webcasts, video chat, stream videos on the Internet. Live streaming videos, TV shows ) and you're good to go! (Unless you're technologically challenged).

This app streams whatever you record on your phone LIVE to the website and you can save the recording on that website. So even if the LEOs take your phone for evidence, you still have a copy of the encounter on the website!

I have no ties to this company nor am I spamming the INGO boards.....just thought some of you may find this helpful! I tried it out and it works well. :rockwoot:
 Good news, technology's makin it harder and harder for folks to act like a morons ALL over the world now a days. Big brothers watchn. BE careful. :D

Not being a tin hat nutter or anything. We should all assume we are being recorded, filmed or photographed at all times simply because everyone has a camera now.

That goes along with the point the LE's here were making. More than likely being recorded wont change anyone's behavior. There was a study once showing how often in a day the average person was photographed or video taped. Convenience store, ATM, traffic intersection, any shopping store, school busses, airports, the list goes on and on. The reason most forget about it is because 99% of people are honest law abiding citizens just doing what they do in the course of the day. This includes public servants.

Which brings us to THIS question:

How do celebrities' e-mail get hacked and plastered all over the news and gossip-rags whenever that personality screws up?? Who is watching? How do they monitor "private" e-mail (I don't mean facebook)? Are there ways to block it from happening? Is there any "expectation of privacy" when communicating via e-mail??

It seems odd that someone who doesn't trust Law Enforcement in general apparently trusts some geek sitting at a computer, in God knows what country, monitoring, archiving, and maintaining, whatever info they are recording. :dunno:

    Two words... Canton, Ohio.

Another couple of words. Wasn't there just a video of a car chase released. The driver wrecked, jumped out and stabbed one of the approaching officers. The attacker was killed by other police officers. There was an uproar in the city about the brutallity of the officers until the video was released. There are department across the nation who listen to complaints of the public. A vast majority are immediately dropped when the officers display their video or produce their audio tape. Those that aren't are usually there isn't a tape available and the investigation goes through normal channels.

I wonder if the owners and operators of USTREAM could possibly hack in and get some of your content that you are not ustreaming???? If I happen to be videoing my family privately could they get this feed without my consent???? Sounds like a great tool but I am not sure I'd trust the app.......

Better not make any home pornos then.

It works both ways. To expect the fact of video recording to change someone's activity or demeanor is to presume they're not honest to begin with, but making them conscious of recording lets those that may be less than honest know they're not going to get away with something. It would be good to be able to allow everyone to be honest, just as it would be good if everyone were. If someone has given us a reason not to trust you, that's not on us anymore than it's on you. Don't blame us, we're just doing what we feel we have to. Nothing personal.

There was an uproar in the city about the brutallity of the officers until the video was released.

There was an uproar among segments of the population.

"Why didn't they just shoot the knife out of his hand?" That kind of thing.

The media pressed the police for the video even before the prosecutor had it. It was more about ratings than any concern that the police had acted improperly which assuredly they had not.

I started to download the app, when my foil cap started to crackle with energy. I looked a little closer at the configuration screen and realized that the app wanted access to everything on my phone, including my GPS coordinates. I stopped the download and my foil cap returned to its barely audible humming state... I may have to go retro to record the jack-booted cops, who are always out to get me. :nailbite: :tinfoil:

hypothetically if one has already done this, what then...

Video/audio was my friend pretty much every time (except a bull wrangling and a donkey chase) - it just frosts me that people would challenge my integrity. i know they dont know me from Adam but just sayin'
